Fade Away Notes: Just wanted to go ahead and post some things that are about my Fade Away Fic. -Hop and Gloria are both 13 in this fic, like just turned 13 not very long ago. -Gloria in the story is originally from Unova. I wanted to give her more of a reason why she’d want to compete in the Galar Gym Challenge besides wanting to be stronger like a lot of the other trainers. Her being from Unova and feeling out of place but taking part of the Gym Challenge to help her come to realize she has a place in Galar and she gains more self confidence as a person and as a trainer. It might be Hop’s story but our girl is going to be her own character too. - (Listen I feel bad enough giving Hop a curse, we all know how this poor boy’s self confidence got beat down during the game especially thanks to a certain fairy type rival…) -She forms a nice bond with Kabu who’s originally from Hoenn. -Hop and Gloria have only had each other as friends since she moved there, so they’re very close. They’re the type of friends that do stupid or things considered childish and laugh about it. They are total sillies with each other. -The Slumbering Weald has a whole different feel to it. It definitely is more of a forest filled with magic like you’d hear with stories about fae and such. Like stories of ghosts that wander there or people thinking the trees speak or there’s something watching them. -Zacian and Zama are the guardians of the Slumbering Weald and seem to have a deep connection to the curse. Perhaps it has something to do with their pasts… -Leon, this poor man. He has no control of his life thanks to a certain Chairman basically forcing him follow his orders and schedule alone, the stress put on unintentionally by his family (having to keep the golden Champion image they push along with said Chairman, add in the fact he’s a genuinely caring person plus he wants to make them proud). The only things he does have freedom or some semblance of control with is his battles and his close bond with Hop. -The curse Hop has is connected to his heart…. so when he feels the affects he feels it through painful pangs in his chest. This is a copy and paste of some Naomi-Hop-Leon thoughts I had last night! It’s interesting to think about Naomi like. In relation to the postwick bros. Cause she is like family but not in the sense that she is recognized like Hop is. So on one end, she is close with Leon. Very close, he often dotes on her when he gets the chance. On the other end, she doesn’t carry that same baggage as Hop does. She is aware of it, she’s known it for the majority of her life but she never felt the same pressure like Hop did. Which, to me, resulted in her relationship with Leon being. Different. But I just feel like it’s. A different flavor to Hop Hop and Leon’s relationship can get strained vs Naomi and Leon’s relationship not, bc there’s nothing to strain and Naomi’s sense of self isn’t as tied to Leon as Hop is. At least in the familial sense. In the champion sense, there’s comparisons left and right but that’s Different. As champion , she’s still anxious. The comparisons are harsh, so with Leon there she kinda leans on him for a time But at the same time like, this is the naomi that got fed up with being treated as a soft baby. And it’s interesting bc he does and he doesn’t. Does in the sense that its Nomi. The girl he knew since she was a baby. Of course he’d fret over her. Of course he’d do that, he missed out so much with herBut doesn’t in the sense that he still does respect her. And there’s still professional boundaries to be had. In many ways, he’s her Mustard, now. I think when Naomi rejects Leon’s attempt to coddle and fuss like he used to is a different feeling to when Hop does it. Naomi’s a lot more gentle. But still firm. No room for discussion but still empathetic. Hop’s more. Defaint? Tired? Annoyed? To me. Both of them are saying the same thing. Like Hop is trying to convince Leon to see him vs Naomi who is simply stating a fact that. If any of that makes sense.
Rose's grand plan actually intended for Leon to die in order for Rose to gain control of Eternatus. It was all planned out: forged will, PR speech explaining why Marcos Cosmos is using Eternatus and how the theoretically-dead Leon would totally be cool with it, even some contingencies if the Champion didn't die then and there - people succumb to injuries in the hospital all the time, right? The point of failure, was, as always, not accounting for kids getting involved. And so Leon lived.
