okay so. we know leon took opal’s audition and ultimately failed. but like. what was the plan if he succeeded. was she going to just snatch the reigning champion and set him up in ballonlea? opal tells him he’s free to leave anytime he wants but he has to navigate out of the glimwood tangle on his own and leon decides its easier to just become the gym leader

a few years back I made a Pokemon swsh au and every so often I remember it and I want to expand on it and lore dump bc I think it’s neat

My phone’s being slow and laggy, but I wanted to write something before I try to shove my phone back up to my ear again. It’s hard to keep it balanced there, but I digress. I just wanted to say how much I love Galar and the Galarian gyms. It reminds me of the Pokemon anime. The anime made a big deal of gyms having overseeing committees and there being official standards to become a gym. In episode 8 or 9 of the anime, they actually choose to get into it all. We see a man trying to become a new gym leader. We also see a snobby pokemon academy in the following episode. We get to see that pokemon training and battling is a big deal. Galar just completed the story by making pokemon battling an equal equivalent to football or soccer or any number of other big spectator sports. And I love that. After Sun and Moon showed us the journey for Alola to get their own official pokemon league, I think it’s so cool to see Galar building on that. I think paldea drops the ball a bit, but still. I love how we see so many gym leaders or former gym leaders in galar. We’ve got Milo, Nessa, Kabu, Bea, Allister, Opal, Gordie, Melony, Piers and Raihan. That’s 10 different pokemon types covered right there! Then we have Bede and Marnie, future gym leaders to be. Then we have future gym leaders Klara and Avery, adding a psychic type gym leader and a poison type gym leader to the mix. Finally, we have Peony. Peony was a former steel type gym leader. Galar had almost every type covered! Besides Normal, Electric, Bug, Ground, Flying and a current Steel gym leader, every type of covered! We’re only missing 6 gym leaders. Gods, I’d love to revisit Galar. I wanna see the minor league gyms. I want to see everything that place has to show me.

I just realized: the galar league and their big televised stadium battles feel like they’re kind of taking plot elements from the anime. I get the impression rewatching the kanto era of the anime that the pokemon league has always a regulated stadium sport esque event. The Pokemon League Championships seem like the pokemon world version of the world cup. It’s an international spectacle, something with ridiculous fanfare behind it. Galar really is the ideal setting for the anime, I think. The anime ending in galar kind of makes sense, the more I think about it. But it also shouldn’t have ended without adapting the majority of the game’s plot points. Because I think the game had a decent enough story (albeit with a main villain whose motivations are kind of flimsy), and I think the show should’ve been forced to adapt it. But Galar and their stadium matches seems like it’d be perfect for the anime. The anime already made gym battles a big deal. Did you see Black and White!? I remember Lenora getting 2 or 3 episodes dedicated to her and to her gym, largely because I saw some of them on TV when I was a kid. If the anime was already making gym leaders into a spectacle, the big stadium arena events of galar would be perfect for the anime. I really think the anime probably could’ve milked 100+ episodes out of galar and the dlc.

hey chat its been a while huh not much has happened in the last year ngl i did a BUNCH of shiny hunting in ZA to the point i have a full team of shiny alpha mega bug types, i did a bug monotype run of Sword (say hi to my orbeetle daughter Four-Eyes and my sonlisopod Jer2mbaface, so called bc of my UM golisopod named Jeroombaface) and i got the shiny charm specifically so i can hunt Pheromosa (still ongoing btw …) ANYWAYS how have yall been ?

I had a dream last night that I was shiny hunting in shield and I found a shiny Roggenrola exept it was in a line like Falinks??? AND IT WAS THE UGLY GREEN SHINY COLOUR!??!

The fact that the dynamax adventures are all heavily geared towards cooperative play is another example of pokemon largely discriminating against the friendless. Beyond that, the legendaries you catch have no pokedex entries! And without pokedex entries, why should I care!? I don’t! I’m not going to engage with that part of the game, I don’t think. It’s not holding my interest at all, and it’s making me feel annoyed.

Here’s a sketch of Niel and Lynette A.K.A. “Spikedad” & “Spikemum” They are Piers’ & Marnie’s parents. Niel is a punk from Motostoke. Lynette is a goth from Spikemuth. Niel had aspirations of being in a band, but never really followed them after he had become devoted to raising his family. He got a regular day job instead. However, his son, Piers had encouraged him to stay in touch with his musical side. Niel would often accompany his son’s singing with playing the guitar. Piers was very close with him. He would often include him as his own personal guitarist. Lynette was a typical “Queen of Darkness.” She was also a bit of a daredevil. She often rode her motorcycle around late at night, and she loved hanging out on rooftops. No one had ever believed she had a “soft side”, even with Piers, she was more of a realist- warning him about certain things, in hopes that he wouldn’t have to face some of the mistakes she had made in the past. But after Marnie was born, she had shown a new side of her- one that was less “dark” and even a bit less “spiky.” They loved each other very much. They loved their children very much. Unfortunately, a terrible accident had ripped them away from this world, forcing their son (at age 17) and their daughter (at age 6) to go on without their parents.
