A research into cat behavior shows that domestic cats regard humans as social peers rather than superiors, often perceiving their owners as large, awkward kittens. Far from being aloof or defiant, a cat’s apparent indifference stems from a profound interspecies mismatch in social expectations. As anthrozoologist John Bradshaw explains, cats—unlike dogs—never evolved to recognize humans as dominant leaders or authority figures. Instead, they filter all interactions through an exclusively feline framework. Behaviors like kneading on your lap or licking your hair are not mere displays of affection; they are the same grooming and bonding rituals cats reserve for close kin or pride members. In their eyes, we are simply enormous, somewhat clumsy fellow cats who require inclusion in the group. This absence of hierarchical deference accounts for cats’ frequent disregard of commands or household rules. Treating us as equals, they follow cat-to-cat social protocols in every encounter. The “gifts” of dead prey on the doorstep or constant shadowing around the home are acts of care toward what they see as a big, furless, rather inept companion. Recognizing this mindset transforms the human-cat relationship from one based on authority and obedience to one of mutual companionship. It turns out that while many owners believe they have domesticated their cats, the cats themselves are quietly convinced they are patiently tending to their oversized, adopted family members. So I might actually introduce another companion soon 👀 Writing the first backstory (in which he appears), I think I’ve been around him well enough to write a little more about him. Well, at least about his younger self that is yet to go through a few things before the main story starts. Poor thing doesn’t suspect a thing yet…
Why did Clarisse leave Chris behind? Was it because of what the Oracle said? Also, I really feel sorry for him. He was promised a quest and then ditched. And it’s got to sting even more because this is now the second quest in a row he was considered for but left out of.
The Power of Imitating the Prophet: Sahaba’s Unwavering Devotion | Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh Just watched “The Power of Imitating the Prophet: Sahaba’s Unwavering Devotion” by Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh . A powerful talk on how the Sahaba’s devotion to the Prophet ﷺ shaped their lives and how we can imitate their example. Highly recommended!
Canon ideas for the cities of Skyrim. Part 1: WHITERUN The city itself is much larger then what we see in the game, comparatible to a large late medieval city in size. Also the population is far more larger, with a population of at least 200,000 inhabitants in the whole city. Home to a nearby river port for easy access to Windhelm and the rest of Eastern Skyrim. (Yes, this mean that the White river is navigable) The city itself has far more districts then those depicted into the game, the tundra district for wandering merchants and farmers to sell their produces or a poorer district, called “One-Eye district”. One of the only two cities in Skyrim to have a Fighters Guild hall, very minor compared to the Companion, but expected given the importance of the city. Whiterun it’s famous for their horses and the care they put into them, with multiple stables and services for horses, they are also famous for their ‘White Archers’ , mounted cavalry units specialized in light tactics and the use of spears, lancers and bows on horseback. The Whiterun City Guard is not only one of the best equipped in Skyrim, welding Skyforge weapons and equipped with light breastplate adorned with yellow and white motives. The Guard as mentioned above is one of the few watches in Skyrim to have a professional cavalry unit. The nobility of the hold is mostly concentrated in the city, with large estates that they leave to administrators or rarely where they live themselves, the majority of the hold’s arable land is owned by the nobility, divided in fiefdoms and minor possediments. The only notable exceptions are the villages of Riverwood, Rorickstead, Blackmoor, Nimalten and the royal woods of the Jarl around Riverwood. The Companions are hold in a much more higher status then in game, members of the inner circle are given lower nobility status and the Harbinger is a noble title, they also own a fiefdom of their own where they use for rest and training, they are also the only ones allowed to hunt game in the royal woods. Most of the nobility also send their offspring to Jorrvaskr as a sign of duty and also for hardening them. Jarl Baalgruuf the Greater of the One-Eye owns not only Dragonsreach, but also has a very large estate located near Whiterun, using it as the official source of food for the Jarl’s kitchens and also as a summer retreat.
As several people know, I’ve been on a mission this year to increase the amount of fanart of Nathaniel Howe. This frankly stunning piece comes from @redshift-art !!! They were excellent to commission and I highly recommend anyone lookin’ for some character art hit them up.
Things I wish Pirat101 had from world, additional mechanics, companions etc PART 1 Where you grew up/who raised you edition: this will also go a little hand in hand with like worlds I want to see/worlds I want MORE of as well BUT that’s actually NOT what i’m gonna talk about rn >:3c when you’re picking who raised you, we get the following options: Marleybone = higher accuraccy Krokotopia = higher mojo Mooshu = higher damage Grizzleheim = higher health Skull island = higher dodge Been a while since I’ve done character creation and all that but I’m pretty sure it goes as follows: marleybone = raised by the dogs there -> nothing special Krokotopia = raised by the kroks there -> pretty cool Mooshu = raised by ninja pigs -> that’s awesome man you’re basically the human version of shiruku neko right RIGHT? Grizzleheim = raised by bears -> pretty sweet skull island = rats of scrimshaw -> only actual named location anyways I wish that this played a bigger impact on the story if you know what I mean? Two of those worlds aren’t really a world yet for us, Krokotopia and Grizzleheim (I know we can go to Zig Zag but Krokotopia itself is NOT a proper world the way other worlds are/get to be so I’m not gonna count it) but for the purposes of this post, gonna say that those two worlds exist because We already have a companion that is directly tied to how we lost our parents so why can’t we have a companion that’s idk the one who raised us, or tangentially related to that? either a parent figure or older sibling figure, or even uncle/aunt figure? that’d be so cool and we’d get this character while traveling through the world. Now for story breaking purposes, Imma say this companion would mostly be like a sidequest thing, because especially if it’s separated out by worlds, we’re not gonna be getting the equivalent companions at the same time although a little roundabout could be made with worlds that are bigger cultural hubs such as skull island so we could have the whole thing as follows: Skull island: higher dodge, raised by rats in scrimshaw. I feel like higher dodge is usually associated with Swashbucklers too, so that’d be yet another swash rat. Since we already have Sarah Steele and Milo Greytail, I’d be cool if the swash rat we could recruit was or a female equivalent because we really need more lady pirates it’d be I think either the first or the only dual class companion, being swash with a gun. Definitely comes with riposte because the whole point is dodging. Maybe they could even reach riposte 5 if you decide to not give them any other epics, but also has the ability repel borders which you could train to level 3 to debuff enemy accuracy. We already have Sarah with her ability to grant the team riposte, gallant guard from Contessa, and El Toro’s accuracy and dodge buff, so maybe as this companion levels up, instead of any of those, it has an enemy debuff that LOWERS their accuracy? idk might be fun You’d pick up this companion on a sidequest in Scrimshaw, AND I’d love some additional dialogue from companions that implies that you should know your way around here, or that the locals are being friendly towards you cuz they know you Mooshu: Higher damage well you’re explicitly raised by ninja pigs, so the companion HAS to be a ninja pig. but because I want variety and there’s already a swash pig companion that exists AND I’m saving muskateer for the marleybone companion, gonna put this one under buccaneer actually AND I propose a new type of ninja pig model. We’ve got swords, we’ve got throwing stars, but we’ve got no kunai pigs. Our buccaneer pig could use kunai. Definitely have first strike under their belt and they could have that buff that the privateers do that increase weapon power to the team And in general, considering that Mooshu IS a wholeass world, ppl who choose this origin story for their pirate should also get some slightly different dialogue when visiting areas that have more ninja pigs around. Or at the very least when you’re doing the sidequest to pick up this companion Marleybone: Accuracy Obviously this is gonna go to the muskateer. There’s no shortage in marleybone muskateers to pick from for this. I’m gonna veto both of these cuz I want NEW companions and for better or for worse we can still get versions of both of these right now. And again, because I’d love to see more ladies in the mix I think it’d be really fun to have a girlie in here. We don’t really get to see a lot of girl dogs in Marleybone sadly. In pirate101 all of the ones we see are corgis. BUT. HEAR ME OUT WHAT IF POODLE now I don’t want THAT model exactly (quite frankly, I want more cat pirates on our crew, but unfortunately this origins buff specifically mentions DOGS so……) but Poodles are, traditionally speaking, bred for hunting, they ARE gun dogs irl even if we don’t quite use them for that as much anymore. I’d love a poodle gunman whose whole shebang is that all the boys don’t let her onto the battlefield or in any conflict really and her whole sidequest is about proving her worth and in the end it’s still not quite enough so she just decides to join the crew of her little adoptive sibling instead. She’d come with quick adjust which can get to level 3 if we want it to, but hopefully her accuracy is so high that it’s not an issue. I’d love it if she had stock assault like bonnie ann as well. Mostly because I’d love to see an animation where she blocks with her gun, kicks some ass, and then flips her cute pom pom ear back behind her shoulder in a similar fashion to mustang sally and her braid and again, like the others, if you were raised in marleybone I WANT MORE DIALOGUE IN THE WORLD THAT REFLECTS THAT IDK Krokotopia: I do think it might be better to place a krok companion in marleybone due to ya know… the relationship between marleybone and krokotopia in universe. Now I’ve got a couple different ideas for a krok witchdoctor companion. as much as I am a sucker for the actual kroks, I MUST REFRAIN TO PICKING THE EXACT KROK MODEL I WANT BECAUSE IT WOULDN’T MATCH WITCHDOCTOR … actually, there IS the potential for a pretty cool multiclass with it…? OKAY ACTUALLY GONNA SPITBALL ALL OF MY WITCHDOCTOR KROK IDEAS OUT Idea 1: We got a mander I know the manders are kinda goofy and derpy looking but I have a lot of fondness for them. They’re sweet little guys and on w101, that mander minion you can summon is one of the MOST useful minions in the game. Now the Mander witchdoctor could be there helping the dogs research tablets and stuff and recruits you on a whole mission before ultimately joining you by the end. I love the idea that depending on what element they’re aligned with, changes what type of magic they can do for you. Obviously, fire, ice and storm manders will have appropriate spells, where the neutral manders could do more traditional witchdoctor stuff. Now the only downside to this is that the Mander’s element would have to be randomly generated which might be more work than it’s worth, in which case, it might be better to have a neutral mander who can use all 3 magics in order to be a better companion idea 2: we got recruited for a sidequest because something went down at the museum and now there’s an angry ass krok ghost attacking everyone because an ancient heirloom got broken or whatever. You’re recruited to deal with this now suddenly dangerous situation and by the end you’ve recruited a ghost witchdoctor companion. Maybe even scratch can help by stablizing them or something. unlike the mander which could’ve been a parent figure, maybe this old heirloom is something your older sibling figure gave to you but you lost on your way to skull island and now you feel responsible to care for the ghost inside of it. I’m seeing three options here for this one, first two is basically same, a general magic using krok companion with a staff, only difference is that one is old and the other is not which [insert standard witchdoctor stuff] although, please for the love of all that is good, have these companions have higher accuracy. All the witch companions in this game suck except for mormo (and nurse quinn but like she doesn’t even function like a witch so i’m not counting her). Even scratch is only good for his buffs, he himself is rather useless in general combat. I would KILL to have a decent witch companion in here Option 2: dual class witch/slashy ghost no other reason than that is my favorite krok model and I think it’d go so hard as a combat krok in the game, AND I’d love to have more dual class companions in here. He could even have bloodsucker as one of his abilities so that he heals a little with every attack Krok isn’t really a WORLD world in p101 unfortunately, so if we ever get a full version of it and we have the spooky backstory, PLEASE again, like before, additional commentary from around the world Last one is grizzleheim: extra health idk where to place this one. Cultural hub in skull island would be great but it’s so… tropical that it feels out of place. The bears and marleybone probably have shit history if any history at all so they definitely wouldn’t be there. They don’t really make sense in ANY world. At most maybe Aquila because there’s some ravens over there but… either way. Grizzleheim would be privateer cuz health and it’s the only class missing from this lineup I don’t remember if the tutorial explicitly says you were raised by bears or not, but if you were, these would be our options which all pretty solid privateer options if not exclusive to bears tho, HNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG HAVE I BEEN DYING FOR SOME WOLVEEEEEEEEEEEEEES this post is getting kinda long and I’m starting to get a bit tired, but yeah I think any of the grizzleheim companions could be older sibling figure to the pirate. They could have a privateer build of a team protection thing and a good attack. They’d come with hold the line and repel borders and then however else you like building your privateers. Love the idea that they have an ability that if they’re not adjacent to you on the map and your healthbar enters red, that they teleport to you to attack the last enemy that hurt you OR, if you did finish them off despite turning red, they can heal you up to halfway. (or maybe it’s 50/50 chance it’s one or the other) anyways, I’m probably gonna make more of these “things I wish were in p101” posts in the future because there’s genuinely so MUCH I wish were in here, even to like additional companions we could recruit in worlds that ALREADY exist do expect to see krok and grizzleheim on here again tho, I LOVE those worlds in w101
