Would anyone want to write or be interested in a fic where Astarion is just transported to Westeros? I’m thinking House of The Dragon time? Idk! I just think young Rhaenyra and Astarion would get along! I wanna see people thinking he’s a dragonseed or smth!
Auntie Ethel’s Unique Vicious Mockeries for Elenion okay, so. this has been buried in my drafts since… december. it was originally inspired by @missfortunetherogue ’s post for their OC, miss fortune ! somehow i thought i posted it already but then a tav QOTD about this exact topic started going around on bluesky, and i looked for this post so i could find the lines i wrote for len… and realized i actually just forgot to post it for many, many months. oops. better late than never? anyway, i wrote a bunch of these because i was in such a generally terrible mood in december that i guess i decided to take it out on my favorite beautiful elf. ethel would absolutely destroy elenion with these: “The Fallen Star of the Sword Coast! Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it, pet?” This would mostly just make him roll his eyes and barely do damage tbh but I thought it’d be funny. It’s inspired by how she can call Wyll “The Fraud of Frontiers”. “Pluck your precious lute all you like, dearie… I can hear the emptiness in every note.” This would sting slightly more from the implication that the facade he puts on has failed, and that both he and his art are hollow and she can tell. “Open your mouth and sing, sweet songbird. That’s all anyone wants from you.” Reducing them to a trained, pretty voice that exists to entertain on command, which is basically how the world already treats them! Ethel just says the quiet part out loud. “Pretty little thing. Always carving, tailoring, polishing yourself into whatever earns you another round of applause.” This hurts because it’s both true and a little bit not. Elenion genuinely loves his body, his beauty, his music. But he did turn real parts of himself into armor and start only offering people the most polished, dazzling version of himself while hiding anything he fears is ugly. And she is right that he changes how he performs and presents himself depending on what he thinks the audience wants. “Such clever hands. Such a pretty mouth. Such a beautiful body… so easy to want, and still so easy to leave. Funny, that.” This would utterly destroy him just from the sheer whiplash of it basically starting as praise about how hot and good in bed he is, before she goes “and that’s still not enough to make anyone love you, lol”! (And from the fact that he’d instantly think she’s right.) “Take off the jewels, little star. Wipe away the glitter. Stop singing. Stop smiling. Then tell me, who’s left to love?” Now we’ve escalated from “everyone desires you but nobody loves you” to “if you take off the mask and stop performing then there will be nothing worth loving at all underneath”, which is already one of Len’s deepest fears and beliefs during the game! This would probably just about kill them. “Your father burned so you could live… and you lit the fire, didn’t you? Left your poor mother to sift through the ashes alone, then spent the rest of your life singing over them.” Elenion’s father died protecting him from a stage fire that he believes he caused, and afterward he left home way too quickly, started obsessively trying to live up to his father’s legacy as an attempt at atonement, and gradually distanced himself from his mother out of guilt. This incident is what essentially created every other wound. And the idea that everything is in fact his fault and his whole life since then has just been meaningless is his other deepest fear. So. Yeah!
WIP Me Tender, WIP Me Cruel .. THE HOUSE REMEMBERS WIP I wish I could say that time has taken away the pain. Or that some memories fade with the years. This one, like some others, is not one of them. Minaste had made sure of that. Not out of anger. No, anger dissipated too quickly. What she did was meant to last, to endure, if possible forever. It was meant to get under your skin, to flow into your posture, into the way you breathed, kept silent, obeyed. In House Mizzrym, pain was rarely the goal. It was a means, a language, proof of who you belonged to. Our parents, Da'viir and I had been aware of this for a long time. And Ardreyth – yes, Ardreyth too – soon learned that nothing was free in this noble house. Not even death. That too had its price. We had learned early on to submit to the rules of this house as if they were our own will. I no longer remember every word. Nor do I remember who had witnessed this spectacle. Time has worn away some things and buried others under pain and darkness. But I remember how powerless I was. And how thoroughly Minaste had made sure that I had nothing left to hold on to. Two slaves washed me under the watchful eyes of the Yath'kyorl. Thoroughly enough to scrub blood, sweat and dirt from my skin, and roughly enough that it could never be mistaken for care. They removed the last visible traces of my decline: braeryn, intoxication, dirt. And the signs of the torture with which Minaste had brought me back from it. No ointment was applied. No wound was stitched. No magic was wasted. When they brought me into the hall of House Mizzrym, the cold of the water had not yet left me. It was under my skin, in my fingers, in my teeth, which I could not press together tightly enough to completely hide their trembling. My shirt was sticking to my body. Clean fabric on bare skin. A small courtesy that was no courtesy at all. The chains they had put on me did not hold anything that could still have escaped. I couldn’t have run away, even if there had still been enough pride somewhere inside me to try. My legs carried me because I left them no other choice. Every movement hurt and reminded me that Minaste had carefully measured out the punishment so as not to kill me. When they led me into the hall, the voices lowered. The hall was full. Priestesses, officers, relatives, servants, men from the lower ranks. Everyone had come to witness this unworthy spectacle, and everyone pretended it was something else: a judgement, a lesson, a necessary correction in the name of the House. I knew this farce all too well. I had played my part in it often enough and had been good at it; Da'viir too. Perhaps that was precisely the problem. Anyone who learns to live a lie their whole life eventually becomes so confident in it that no one can tell where it ends and where the truth begins. The symbols of Lolth hung on the walls, carved in stone and embroidered on dark banners. Below them sat and stood the onlookers. Some looked at me openly. Others kept their composure and acted as if their presence were obligatory. No one was there just out of obligation. They had come to see what was left of Calimar Mizzrym, the Qu'el'velguk of House Mizzrym. Not out of compassion or concern; such feelings had no use in our society and were beaten out of you or used against you early enough. My case was a theatrical demonstration of the prevailing balance of power, one of those carefully staged lessons with the hierarchy looked at itself from time to time and assured itself of its own inviolability. …. tbh i do have a lot of thoughts about its name but right now i can’t stop thinking how it’s also something that depends so heavily on its social position. idk. if it’s mindflayerism is hidden and if it’s in a position of power it will be called by its name. when things go wrong its name becomes a mockery or gets ignored completely and it becomes “the emperor” (with quotation marks, demonstrating that speaker doesn’t treat it seriously) or that mind flayer

hi! idk if you've touched on this topic because i just got here but what are your OCs relationships with the rest of the bg3 party?
I have not touched on this topic so thank you for asking!! So my drow, Llewelyn is probably the closest with Wyll, Shadowheart, and Jaheira because for Wyll his sense of justice really resonates with Llewelyn even if he is in a pact with a fiend. And for Shadowheart he appreciates her sarcasm but also understands her journey of worshipping an evil goddess and then realizing your religion is a lie and worshipping a good goddess (bonus points for both of their gods being relatives of their former gods). For Jaheira he I think is the most similar to her, in terms of personality and the fact that they both have a bunch of adopted kids and a somewhat strained relationship with their eldest daughters. Llewelyn is not as stern as Jaheira but he’s close? He really admires her tact and leadership skills as well. He does find it very ironic that she treats him like he’s a youngster when he’s actually around her age if not a little older. (During BG3 he’s like 190). He ironically used to have a thing with Astarion (before realizing maybe they weren’t compatible). Both Llewelyn and Astarion have similar trauma and I think they bonded over that, but I don’t think either of them were healed enough to make it work unfortunately. I also think their personalities did not mesh well either, but there is no bad blood between them (at least on Llewelyn’s side). I think Llewelyn really vibes with Halsin’s views on nature but his racism towards drow is obviously not appreciated (he understands but he doesn’t appreciate it). He keeps his distance from Halsin because of that fact, so they’re more like acquaintances/coworkers. For Gale I think Llewelyn and him get along okay but Llewelyn does think Gale is a bit arrogant at times and also isn’t really close with him because of the whole orb in his chest thing. He doesn’t usually like wizards that much. But out of all the wizards he’s known he probably likes Gale the most which is saying something. Minthara I accidentally killed on my original run with him but I recruited her in another playthrough so let’s pretend for the sake of it that she is alive in Llewelyn’s OG run. Basically I think they have a very love hate relationship. Like Llewelyn worships Eilistraee, was a commoner in his small underdark city, is a male. Minthara is a former worshipper of Lolth (or is currently one I don’t remember), literally a daughter of House Baenre, and is a woman. So y’know there’s a lot of tension there. But they’re both drow on the surface trying to navigate surface dwellers and their weird customs so they definitely understand each other there. And while Llewelyn doesn’t often like to talk about his home he does miss some things from there so Minthara can probably relate to at least some of that. Finally Lae’zel and Minsc. Llewelyn thinks Lae’zel is too harsh at times so he doesn’t really get along with her there but he really appreciates her efficiency and probably considers her almost a friend, he also fully supports her journey of abandoning Vlaakith. I don’t think Llewelyn knows how to feel about Minsc, on one hand that’s Jaheira’s friend but on the other hand… he’s strange. But he thinks Minsc has good enough intentions and he kinda feels bad for him. Astraeus (who still doesn’t have an intro post ;-;) was not there during BG3 so technically he doesn’t have a relationship with most of the companions. I mean he was alive just in a different area during the events. He does know Wyll though because my OG tav Taliesin married Wyll and that was Llewelyn’s roommate in bard college. So through various degrees of separation he eventually meets Wyll and gets along with him pretty well. He just meets him well after BG3. But since he technically is in my game though I’ll say he probably gets along well with mostly everyone except Minthara and Astarion. Depending on if he is with Llewelyn at the time his dislike for Astarion could come from being jealous because that’s Llewelyn’s ex but also because he’s a vampire and Astraeus is a Paladin of Lathander (he’s Lathander’s special boy).
