Title-You Love Me Author-Caroline Kepnes Year of Publication-2021 Series Title-You Series Status-Ongoing (2014-) Book In Series-4 Total In Series-5 Next Book Expected-??? Summary-Sequel to Hidden Bodies. Joe has relocated to Bainbridge Island, Washington following his stint in prison after he was accused of murdering Guinevere Beck and Peach Salinger. Love has forced him out of her life and out of the life of their son Forty named after her dead twin, but weirdly enough doesn’t block him on social media. Now as a library volunteer Joe thinks he might have a chance at a new love. Mary Kay DiMarco is a bit older and has a teenage daughter Nomi who Joe nicknames the Meerkat. Mary Kay unfortunately is also married, but borderline estranged from her washed up rock star husband Phil. Besides Phil, Joe also has Mary Kay’s friends Melanda and Seamus to contend with and still lurking in the background is Love and her father Ray who have sicced Oliver a professional bully on Joe. Joe is determined not to let any of this get him down. He’s one of the good guys and is ready to finally settle down with Mary Kay. It isn’t Melanda, Seamus, Oliver, Love, or Ray that Joe should be worried about. It’s someone closer to Mary Kay and someone Joe never would have expected. Pros-Joe is putting more of an effort into cleaning up his act. The brief mention of Karen Minty Joe’s short lived girlfriend from You. Out of the women in Joe’s life Mary Kay was probably the healthiest. Dottie continuing to give Joe access to Forty via social media after Love’s death. Cons-Content Warning: mentions of child molestation and suicide. Melanda was almost a clone of Peach. Nomi’s behavior towards Joe at the end came out of the blue. Likewise Love’s 180 personality change had no warning. Overall Rating-4.5/5
Stoneybeach is a quiet, simple town. But strange things are going on. Nick, a local boy living with his uncle, is causing trouble all over town and he won’t admit to it. He claims there’s another boy behind it all. A boy who looks just like him. The townsfolk have had it up to here and may take matters into their own hands. A well-told tale of the ways terror-stricken communities can lash out when they can’t accept any variance from the norm.
Title-You Author-Caroline Kepnes Year of Publication-2014 Series Title-You Series Status-Ongoing (2014-) Book In Series-2 Total In Series-5 Next Book Expected-??? Summary-Joe Goldberg has met the One. Guinevere Beck who goes by her last name has come into Mooney’s Rare and Used Books and Joe is done for before she even leaves the store. But Joe isn’t going to go the traditional route of wooing Beck. He has hacked into her social media (this was easy after she dropped her phone and never found it again) and reads her emails with friends Lynn, Chana, and Peach and also with her current boyfriend Benji. And Benji is problem number one. Joe doesn’t like how he treats Beck and how she is unable to let him go. So since Beck needs help Joe is happy to assist by posing as a good magazine editor so he can drug Benji and hold him captive until he decides what to do with him. Benji might be full of nasty stories about Beck, but Joe doesn’t believe them because this is LOVE. And with Benji out of the picture Joe has an easier time inserting himself into Beck’s life even with Peach’s near constant interfering. Peach doesn’t understand anymore than Benji did that this is LOVE and you can’t get in the way of TRUE LOVE. With Benji and Peach gone finally Joe can love Beck the way she always wanted and needed to be loved. Until he finds out about her betrayal. But Beck wouldn’t hurt Joe on purpose. She was mislead by someone she should have been able to trust. Joe can still reason with Beck even after she starts accusing him of being a stalker and a psycho. Because Joe is in love and no one not even Beck his dream girl is going to get in his way. Pros-Joe has enough charisma and charm to make him dangerous. Keeping the image of Beck on the cover blurry. Joe handles Benji and Peach in different ways. The humor is very dark. Setting up book two by introducing Amy ahead of time. Cons-Content Warning: graphic sexual content throughout. I’ve always wondered what happened to Lynn and Chana and I don’t think they’re in future books. Overall Rating-5/5
Title-Sputnik Sweetheart Author-Haruki Murakami Year of Publication-1999 (translated from Japanese 2001) Summary-K is a young man in love with Sumire an aspiring writer. But Sumire isn’t attracted to K and he knows he needs to be happy as friends. Sumire for all of her idiosyncrasies such as the inability to keep her apartment clean and forgetting to eat while in the throes of creativity has fallen in love herself. While K loves Sumire she loves Miu an older woman who despite her Japanese name is Korean. Miu has given Sumire a job that still allows her to write and got her a new wardrobe. So even if K doesn’t get the girl he’s still happy that Sumire has met Miu even if they don’t get to see each other as often. But things start to become strange when K gets a letter from Sumire saying she’s with Miu in Rome and then he gets a phone call from Miu saying Sumire has vanished and she needs help. When K arrives in Greece to meet Miu she tells him of an odd occurrence that happened not long before Sumire went missing and how it might be connected to something that happened to her 14 years ago. Even when K returns home Sumire is still gone, but she turns up again as if nothing happened. K and Miu still don’t know what happened to Sumire and maybe they never will. Pros-K takes his spot in friend zone with good grace. Because of the parallel universe Miu was able to look into briefly I tend to this takes place in same world as 1Q84. Sumire never explaining how or why she went to the other world or why she came back. Cons-Why not give K a full name? Overall Rating-5/5
The Amazon is no place for sightseeing, but Jake decides to go help his scientist dad in his bat research. The jungle is hot, dangerous, and something bigger than a wee bat is stalking Jake and the rest of the research team. Will they survive the night? What a great creature feature! The action is tense and the threat is very real.
Title-Hidden Bodies Author-Caroline Kepnes Year of Publication-2016 Series Title-You Series Status-Ongoing (2014-) Book In Series-3 Total In Series-5 Next Book Expected-??? Summary-Sequel to You. Joe has moved on from his disastrous affair with Beck and is happy with his new girlfriend Amy. Amy with her blueberry addiction and snarky personality. Amy who lulls Joe into a false sense of security and then robs the bookstore. Joe isn’t heartbroken he’s angry and is willing to follow Amy all the way from New York to Los Angeles to hunt her down and get revenge. Which is easier said than done once Joe finally arrives. He passes himself off as a producer to hunt for Amy the aspiring actress and gets himself a crappy apartment where he meets Delilah a wannabe actress, Harvey the landlord a washed up never quiet famous comedian, Robin Fincher a failed actor turned cop/celebrity stalker, and Calvin who thinks he’s a writer, but is mostly a loser. And then there’s Love Quinn daughter of the owners of the Pantry grocery store where Joe shops. And just like that Joe forgets his mission and is in love with Love. The problem is Love’s twin brother Forty is a self absorbed narcissist who is all ego and little talent. And Milo a childhood friend of Love’s who is still nursing a decade’s long crush. Joe doesn’t want to hurt anyone he wants a fresh start with Love (his fresh start after commuting two murders in LA at least). He’ll play the game and fake the funk and be a father to his and Love’s baby. Oh yes it is good to be in love. Pros-Joe calling Love by her name instead of ‘you’ like he did with Beck. The picking at LA’s attitude towards Hollywood and celebrities was enjoyable. Out of all the women Joe is with Love is the best suited for him. Letting Amy live looked like it was a turning point for Joe. Cons-This is the only book not to have you in the title. Overall Rating-5/5

KayKay and her sister Annie knew their lives would change when their mom became president. They didn’t anticipate just how creepy and strange it could be in that old house. A light mystery with amusing turns throughout, but it also serves as an interesting look at life inside the White House!
“The Unlikely Predator” by Wayne Hancock I’ve finished reading this one today and thought I’d share. Back on April 17th, I asked my readers to pick my next read and this was the book that got the most votes. I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. There was a lot going on in this book, enough to keep me entertained, but not so much that I couldn’t keep up with what was going on in the story. I love a good mystery and this book… View On WordPress
