Las Islas del Maíz A setenta kilómetros de las costas de Nicaragua encuentras un archipiélago formado por dos islas, la Gran Isla del Maíz y la Pequeña Isla del Maíz rodeadas por el mar caribe, las cuales deben su nombre a piratas franceses, (que las encontraron antes que Cristóbal Colón), al divisar a lo lejos que en las islas había sembradíos de maíz, los cuales posiblemente los habían hecho indios kukras. Las dos islas son eminentemente turísticas, ideales para alejarse de las ruidosas ciudades. Puedes relajarte apreciando el atardecer en sus hermosas playas de arena dorada. Además, puedes nadar en aguas puras y cristalinas, especiales para el buceo y esnórquel presentando un hermoso arrecife de coral. Ambas islas son patrimonio turístico del país, cuentan con muy buenos hoteles y bares, para el agrado de los visitantes. The Corn Islands Seventy kilometers from the coasts of Nicaragua you find an archipelago made up of two islands, the Big Corn Island and the Litle Corn Island surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. They owe their name to French pirates, (who found them before Cristobal Colon), when they glimpsed in the distance that there were corn fields on the islands, possibly made by Kukra Indians. The two islands are eminently touristy, ideal to get away from the noisy cities. You can relax appreciating the sunset on its beautiful golden sandy beaches. In addition, you can swim in pure and crystal clear waters, special for diving and snorkeling featuring a beautiful coral reef.
