Tonight I went to the new member night at the Missouri Botanical Garden . I’ve never had a membership before. I’ve only ever come when it is free for St Louis residents (that’s my taxes baybee!!). I enjoyed a walking tour with a garden docent, and the sun set while on the tour. There’s this great sculpture exhibition there through September called Patterns in Nature . Everything is lit up, but you don’t notice it until after dark. Here are some photographs I took this evening, including most under the cut.

Various anomalous flowers from my neighbor’s garden in the first four photos, and–surprisingly–another fleeting flower from my own plant in the final one! and a fused petal specimen at that. My plant is definitely past its prime (the flowering stalk-bits are very dead looking, the lone couple of flowers I have seen from it recently were near the bottom of the plant) but it’s always fun to see an unexpected bloom, especially when it’s anomalous. 6.13.2026
