They’re all based and varnished now! I knew I didn’t really want to do a sort of terrain base for these guys. I wanted perhaps less of a battlefield situation cuz I just wanted pretty… so I ended up with marble flooring which I’m pretty proud of. I also finally got The Ugly One fixed! Baby’s first set of minis completely done and it only took me like four months because of reasons lmao

I finally finished up what I’ve been affectionately referring to as the Golden Girls despite being named for Teen Girl Squad and TTS. I think Cheerleader turned out to be my favorite but I’m also incredibly proud of the power effects on Kitten’s glaive. I feel like I’ve been painting forever but I’m pretty happy with my first go. There’s still a few touch ups I want to do and of course I have to base them, but they’re done enough I went ahead and put their names on ‘em and dated them. I have some mechanicus waiting for more than their first base coat atm but I’ll probably take a few days off before I dig into them. Besides, if I finish them then I’ll need to get another set to work on lmao

Reposting my kitbash of some female custodes I got in my warband of Rogue Trader inspired custodes I made over the years, these gals are from the period when the first mention of female custodes came out, now that official models are coming out I might check my bits box see if I got more bodies to throw in few more, just need to aquire some helmets…

Can’t believe I forgot to give this one its own post. 10,000 years of isolation in the imperial palace have made the Adeptus Custodes quite weird. Some… more than others it seems. (by @rowscara )

Unfortunately I know fuck all about Valdor! I know he’s a Custodes, I know he’s been around since the start of the Imperium, I think he may be the Emperor’s first gene-forged lil guy (or at least from the first batch). As an actual character, though? Fuck all. Maybe I need to read about him, people seem to go nuts for Valdor. Is he fucked up? I love the fucked up ones.

In honor of the new (worse) venetari sculpts, some resin venetari I (mostly) completed recently: First, my favorite part. Besra Dacius, the Kestrel, Tribune of the Solar Watch. Who better to lead the Watch on talon sorties, after all, than someone able to leap from spire to spire freely, unbound by gravity, soaring across the sky on great golden wings? Aethon Shaan from the waist down (and arms - I’m a huge sucker for power talons), since his base and general everything was just so perfect for a Shield-Captain of the Venetari. Had such fun working on her - Shaan cuts apart so nicely to be able to mount his torso on venetari legs. All I had to do was cut off his pelvis at the waist indent and everything else was smooth supergluing. Birdwatchers among us will know a Besra is a particular agile bird of prey in the real world, as is a Kestrel. I do so love the idea that Custodians name things after real creatures and people from Ancient Terra, since they’re the keepers of all that history, and likely the only ones left who still carry that knowledge. Now GW just needs to give us rules for them. Reactive move, anyone? Second, rounding off the group of three, the Kestrel’s Ephoroi bodyguards. I wanted to break from the normal custodes schemes and do something… different. I decided, hey, no one does much with the Ephoroi, and what would make more sense for a group of infiltration-and-intelligence focused custodians than soldiers who could literally be gone with the wind? A rise and fall of the axe, a slash of a power spear, and gone in the flash - with the Imperium rid of another troublesome priest, or the beginnings of a particularly dire cult on the Throneworld cut off at the root. SIlent executioners gone into the night. I got so painfully, ardently bored with the flight sticks that I cut up pieces of an old marine dreadnought and some marines to make bases. Ignore that #2’s base isn’t done yet - she’s killing things on a snow world :) I have been having a love affair with Luxion Purple contrast, and I wanted something different for a chance. So I went with purple and black; colors that might blend into the darkness better - say, into a polluted sunset? Not that the Imperium has a dearth of those. I’ve avoided cleanup on these two for a while, but my ego with regards to the Kestrel got the better of me, and so - three’s a crowd.
