guys the amount of times I cried at this wedding was crazy. and I cried because I was so happy, which never happens to me. here is a small list (not everything) -when the officiant mentioned same-sex marriage getting legalized & threats to that decision (the lesbian couple sitting in front of me, not the ones getting married, was also really weeping for this one) -i talked to that couple afterwards and one of them has an ex-wife and two children who are in high school. it just really made me think about how we’re finally getting to live queer lives and begin again and do all the things everyone else gets to do. yay gay divorce ! ! ! -looking at the grey in the couple getting married’s hair. they’re both in their mid 50s and I… it made me see a future for myself. like. not to get too deep about it but all I ever feel for the future is worry and looking at them made me feel hope -listening to their vows to each other. they’re so clearly in love and they did their vows in the form of promises to each other and it was big stuff about commitment but also little things about listening to each other even when it’s about stuff the other doesn’t care about. idk it meant a lot to me. -when I learned that the couple who was getting married met 27 years ago when one of them gave a fire torch safety demo to the jewelry making class the other was in & they stayed friends through it all until about 6 years ago when they got together. that’s adorable -walking around their beautiful garden (it was a backyard wedding) and looking at their peonies and white irises and all the plants and I just was surrounded by this life they built together and their dog who is their child was following me around and it was a beautiful day. it felt so real and so tangible and like something I could have one day
heartstopper lowkey the first show ive watched with good comphet lesbian representation. imogen’s journey from being boy obsessed to discovering she’s a lesbian is such a common experience but it’s so underrepresented in media
I’m gonna need everyone to keep posting trans masculine characters with big naturals because it reminds me as a trans masc/nonbinary person that not only are they natural but they’re also hot and sexy.
I found out that a town near me not only has a pride celebration but also a whole community where they do queer events and stuff i actually cried a little bit i never thought i would get to see that near me my faith for like my community has been restored a little bit one more year and ill be 18 and i can go to all the pride stuff i want im so close ive made it farther than i thought i would pride is so important thank you to all the people who make it happen happy pride🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️❤️
I Love the Power of Drag and Queer Joy Spaces in Alaska and Everywhere Sitting upstairs in a divvy bar off Cushman Ave in Fairbanks, a gaggle of people downstairs are mid-painting bucolic scenes in a sip n’paint class. It feels surreal as the drag show is about to begin. Sam and I sit near the front of the small stage decorated with only a Budweiser dart chart & board hanging on chipped dark maroon walls as daylight streams through the flimsy curtains — it’s hard to block out sunlight in the Land of the Midnight Sun. We join the nearly 40 people waiting in anticipation for an all-people-of-color (POC) Crybaby’s Dollhouse to begin. Outside this bro-y space transformed into a queer sanctuary, our world feels bleak and suffocating. Yet sitting in my eBay vintage overalls and pink mesh Stay Queer As Fuck crop-top amongst people just being themselves, I feel hope and optimism for me and all of us! Each queen and king enters through a janky stage door, their music number swelling as they wait to enter at the right moment. You feel the anticipation as I holler and the people down the row of chairs and behind us start clapping and hooting. A drag queen’s call sign, cheering crowds urging her to come onto the stage. The wall thins between us — the crowd — and the drag performer. Something childlike and joyous to watch each queen and king emerge from the seemingly out of place basic white door onto the stage. Recently, while watching long-time queen Sherry Vine perform, she said we all deserve an hour of fun, of joy! Yes, we all deserve to connect and bond in our queer joy space.
It must be wild to be a homophobe. They could be vibrating out of their skin with hate, and I, a bisexual, am over here reading about two people falling in love over and over again
I use my Kinder World app as a digital altar and right now it’s an altar dedicated to safety for queer people (I named the plant in the rainbow pot Safety, and dedicated its growth to that). It’s no longer got support but I think you can still download Kinder World for free if you’re interested. You can grow plants and use self care practices to water them, earn dog treats to buy decorations, and decorate rooms.
I haven’t experienced trans joy and I don’t think I ever will but I have experienced aromantic joy. It’s pretty good it’s like a spiritual experience. Also just a general vicarious queer joy from seeing people and imagining a life where there’s no rules to how to relate to people you love or how to relate to yourself. ykkkkkkkk?
