INSIDE ISSUE 53 // “Samantha Joy Groff paints women as if they belong first to the body and only second to the world, as if something older, wilder, and less easily named moves through them, shaping their gestures before thought has time to intervene. Her paintings do not unfold so much as they accumulate, thick with atmosphere, each surface holding a quiet pressure, as though something is always on the verge of surfacing but never quite does.“ Read about @redneckhotwife and her work in the June issue of Beautiful Bizarre art magazine, in an essay by @andykovacic. The print magazine has sold out on our website, but you can download the digital magazine here https://store.beautifulbizarre.net/product/issue-53-digital/ or get a print copy from one of our Stockists worldwide.

A late night start to the second part of a diptych. This painting is meant to convey a similar but opposite kind of love compared to its counterpart. An image taken at 8:13 PM shows me smiling softly, tired and aching. I am making our dinner for the night, making washing up for the morning. This painting, just like the other, is meant to show the quiet but impactful devotion of being there in small ways for your loved ones every day, as well as the safety of knowing that they too will be there for you. It’s not going to be perfect, but that’s not the point. There is always going to be that mouldy onion that you have to pick the skin off, and you might burn the cashew nuts rather than toast them, but that’s okay. What matters is that you are here and you are trying.
Von Wolfe is a British artist of German and Polish descent. He studied Philosophy at York University and currently lives and works in London. Von Wolfe’s process embodies the seamless interplay between the artist’s practice as an oil painter and the forefront of technological innovation. Striking a balance between intuitive human discernment and a cutting-edge node-based system using diffusion models, the resulting works showcase astounding precision. The artist navigates the boundary between digital and tactile realms.
INSIDE ISSUE 53 // “What I do believe in, strongly, is that a trial-and-error mindset, combined with inner authority – not borrowed, not external – is the key to doing anything. Try, fail, adjust, try again without shame, without asking permission from anyone outside of yourself.” Read about @carles_gomila and his work in the June issue of Beautiful Bizarre art magazine, in an essay by @anerdyperspective. The print magazine has sold out on our website, but you can download the digital magazine here https://store.beautifulbizarre.net/product/issue-53-digital/ , or get a print copy from one of our Stockists worldwide.
Vivian Greven’s suggestive paintings pair classical forms with digital-age aesthetics. The artist renders her subjects with soft, smooth brushstrokes and pastel hues. As she draws a connection between the idealized forms of Greco-Roman sculpture and the performative images on social media, Greven investigates the timeless pursuit of beauty and its attendant disappointments.
