OVER THE YEARS I HAVE HEARD MANY OF OUR DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS ARGUING OVER WHO ARE THE REAL “SEMITES”, WHICH POSSIBLY FIRST BEGAN EVEN BEING USED AS A TERM IN THE 1700s. WELL, FOR ONE THING, THIS WORD SUPPOSEDLY ORIGINATED FROM SHEM, A SON OF PROPHET NOAH, WHO LIVED 5,000 YEARS AGO, SO IN MY HUMBLE OPINION AND FROM THAT STANDPOINT, HOW COULD BLACK PEOPLE, THE ORIGINAL PEOPLE OF THE EARTH BE SEMITES, SEMITIC OR DESCENDED FROM SHEM WHEN BEFORE SHEM WAS, WE WERE? Your husband explained the names of your children, but he said you‘d chosen your daughter’s name and that he didn‘t know the why. Dude didn’t sound very happy with your choice. Care to elaborate?
Ah well… You might have recognised and he has certainly told you that each of our son‘s names had been selected in accordance with a family predecessor as is customary. My husband was the one choosing a suitable name each time. Our daughter, Belvina on the other hand, had been a different case, and a different sex . Because I was overjoyed to finally have a girl after 3 boys, I asked my husband if he would allow me to select a name for her. Of course, both him and my mother-in-law had expected me to follow the tradition, naming the girl either Ella, Maud (my mother’s name), Josephina (my grandmother‘s name) or Merlin forbade , Elladora. None of those felt right for me, though and for certain reasons. Instead, I chose ‘Belvina‘. The name itself can be traced back to different origins. It is derived from Latin and means either ‘the fair’ or ‘beast-like’ but it can also be connected to the celtic holiday of ‘Beltane’, the Walpurgis night. I have thought the name to be unusual and with a graceful ring to it, too. I had had to explain all of that to my husband as well, but he must have forgotten it.
Another headcanon I’ve watched “Pirates of the Caribbean” for the first time. When I saw Elizabeth my first tought was “Andy” because this actor is pretty known as Andromeda’s Black fancast. And beacause of Will’s Turner apperance I can’t stop thinking that Ted Tonks used to have long hair in his teenage years. I know it’s random but I like this kind of little things which just come to mind when I mix fandoms.
