Do you have any headcanons for Winky Dink from the obscure cartoon Winky Dink And You? TBH, I kind of prefer the voice Mae Questel gave him in the 50s version. I adore Lionel Wilson's voice work, but his voice for Winky in the 60s versions sounds TOO similar to Tom Terrific IMO. I do think Winky and Tom could be great friends if they ever met.
Hi! Sorry this took so long…I had to really familiarize myself with Winky Dink, but yeah I think I have a few things in mind! -Winky Dink is a BIG activist for children’s welfare and health! He’s especially big on making sure children are safe and can interact safely with others. He’s often written papers on how to make sure children are kept educated and protected from malicious actors who wish to lure and entice them. -Winky Dink has lightly mentored and managed to befriend several other interactive cartoon characters. This includes the Cat Burglar cast, the Blues Clues cast, and the Team Umizoomi cast. -Winky Dink has a fondness for elves, fairies, and pixies. He’s a big believer in them and has even set up little fairy houses around his home to give them a space they can relax in. He’s managed to become good friends with Tinker Bell due to his love.
Winky Dink and You Back in the Eisenhower administration, kids would watch this show and interact with the limited animation by drawing on a vinyl overlay that sat on their TV tube (because, in that mist-enshrouded past, it was a cathode ray tube) with colored crayons. It should go without saying that children who did not have the official Winky Dink kit would often turn to drawing on the family TV screen. I was too young for the original and a tad too old for its revival, but, watching this, I had a minor *mind blown* moment when I realized that Winky Dink’s very familiar voice was provided by Mae Questel, who was the voice of Betty Boop! Another tasty trivia tidbit is the fact that Jack Barry, the host of the show, was a co-creator of Twenty-One , the TV game show that became the center of the game-fixing scandal depicted in the film Quiz Show . Although he was not personally involved in the rigging, years later, he admitted to covering up for his partners. And that, kids, is why, no matter what Republicans say, regulation is important in the marketplace. Now, go draw on your big-screen TVs!
Yep, there sure were! I was one of them. Winky Dink got me in trouble. (Of course, it served mom right for sleeping late.)
I think my dad was one, too, actually, if I’m remembering right. I need to ask him again when he gets back later tonight… I’m sure I would have drawn on the TV, too, were I a three-year-old encouraged by a TV show and my parents to draw on the TV.

Yeah sad to say YouTube’s never gonna be the same without our favorite hookups & him, really gonna miss the guy… 😔 Deadpool: NOOOOOOOO…!!!
