My visit to London in summer 2022 was informed by my few months there in 2019. I knew I wanted to prioritize a meal at Sutton and Sons, the best vegan fish and chips I’ve ever had. Really enjoyed the blue skies, something that is rare in Belfast. And all the graffiti I was most drawn to: birds birds birds!

I tried out @lucyschips for the first time (😱 I know, how did it take me so long??!) and was well impressed by their vegan selection 👌 Lots of choice, and so well priced! After a short wait I was presented with my very first fresh ‘vish’ that I’ve had since ditching meat, and it definitely hit the spot. Definite grounds for deportation for not upholding Winston Peter’s “Kiwi Values” initiative. Vegan “fush” & chips, the fish being made from soya bean textured vegetable protein (TVP), in a seaweed wrap and then compressed, ready for the batter and deep-fry. The texture achieved in the “fish” is piscine real, with the seaweed sheet (nori) adding a skin. The chips are cooked in fresh vegetable oil and the mayo on the slaw is vegan.
