An excellent video about Natchez, Mississippi, monetizing their history of slavery. The only thing that I can’t deal with is the lady in the video speaks like a therapist, and I just really hate that tone of voice. “Does that bring anything up for you?” Or “Let’s unpack that a little bit.” Like I hate it when people talk like that, but I cannot put my finger on why. It just always seems so… Antagonistic? Like I’m being lured into a trap. A great video for people who don’t mind that tone of voice.
A VAST WASTELAND COMES AGAIN The State of Television, by Rich Paschall When the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission spoke to the National Association of Broadcasters in Washington, DC, he began his speech as one might expect. He offered praise for the “noble profession” of broadcasting. He told the group, “When television is good, nothing — not the theater, not the magazines or newspapers — nothing is better.”… A VAST WASTELAND COMES AGAIN
BTS Wishbone dream I had a dream I was the host of a PBS gameshow directed by the same person who made Wishbone where celebrities would come on and be quizzed about classic literature, and if they failed, they had to read the actual book. For some reason Jimin from BTS was on the first show and lost so he had to do a stream where he read some classic piece of literature (I forget what it was). Jimin was bummed, especially due to the language barrier, but I told him he could read it audibly to his fans. So he had a bunch of streams where he did that and his fans were ecstatic about it. I know absolutely NOTHING about BTS or Jimin. I don’t know why my subconscious did this. Can anyone from the BTS Army tell me why this is happening and if this would be accurate?
This documentary short follows Trey Abdella as he mines the everyday aesthetics of middle-class America—from “Live Laugh Love” and kitschy home decor to Saturday morning cartoons and amusement park animatronics—peeling back their artifice to reveal the oddities, dysfunction, and disgust that may lie underneath.
