Bogans & Hoons 7" EP by spray paint 6/16/26. When I see the word bogan, I can’t help but think of Shogun from Royal Headache. When Micah and I saw them play years ago in San Francisco he signed my record “Shogun the Bogan”. Spray Paint (Austin, Texas) always had strong relationships with Australian bands, so I’m assuming they learned the word bogan from their frequent collaborations with Aussies (most notably Exek - in fact Spray Paint’s Chris Stephenson is now credited as a member of Exek). I’m surprised I hadn’t heard this excellent 7" which features songs that were recorded at the same time as the “Feel The Clamps” LP was. However, none of these were released on that album. Spray Paint really is in a league all their own, but they were undoubtedly influenced by Sonic Youth and Swell Maps. Goner Records released this 7" as well as “Feel The Clamps”.
