Busy busy
So I have been super busy all this week with Radio1 and I am feeling mentally drained at the minute but I promise this week I will update our progress day by day for the duration of the project. So far it has been an amazing experience and the people we are working with are so great and they are helping us along the way. Throughout last week we had a lot to do to pull our ideas together and the first thing we had to do was pitch our ideas to the commissioning editor at BBC Radio1 - The 2 ideas we finalised on were the music scene in Derry and how to bring both divided sides of the city together using music and the second being binge drinking but with a different spin on it to make it more upbeat than the normal binge drinking doc’s but still get the message across. So when the time came to decide who was going to pitch the ideas to Piers we decided those who came up with the idea of each documentary would speak on skype and as I came up with binge drinking I had to pitch it. I was quite nervous about doing this as I was scared of him not liking the idea. Fortunately he was very happy with both ideas and we got his approval. For the rest of the week we split into 2 groups of 4 and set out to structure our 2 documentaries. We spent the week coming up with people we wanted to interview and how we would like to carry out our documentary - I am in the binge drinking team as I find it more interesting to me. We are under a lot of pressure with getting everything sorted over the next 5 days but without giving too much away we have quite a few interviews arranged and events to attend this week to help us put together our doc and it is going to be very exciting so fingers crossed no disasters occur between now and Friday and I will let you in on some secrets about our documentaries over the next few days!!
With the months end fast approaching, it kinda feels like nothing ever gets done! But thats not true one bit… I love the saying, if you want something done, give it to a busy person. Beacuse you can really rely on them to do it. . . If your not that good at something or you can’t find the time to do ‘that x amount at that point in time’… use your bloody resources and reach out to get some help. At the end of the day, we all need rest, relaxation and a sense of downtime, to recharge, reset and become motivated. 10 jobs complete with 5 in the pipe is busy. 40 jobs with 20 not even started is….well crazy. And the PHOTO?? - pretty much the face I pulled when I forgot to bring a mic on a job at the start of the week. No biggie… you just learn to become indispensable, and make a problem, a solution. 😉👌 Job turned out ace! 😉📷🤗 . . Dec 15th 2016 - First Blood work
So, Even though I haven’t been to my endocrinologist or however spelled. (I hope you undermeant what I stood). I am having the blood work done, and getting checked with a physical and chat with my family doc in January. So, I’m scared shitless of needles. I almost faint, displaced previous eating habits…. Once… So, this time, I’m going solo. I’m getting it done. I’m taking charge. Also going to bring my scarf and tell them to just do it. Then maybe snag a picture of the vials… (curiosity sakes if they don’t mind)…. I might not be in the exact steps for Alberta, but I’m doing therapy, I’m getting answers sooner. And maybe, maybe my doc if I’m lucky… Could start me on blockers at least.. Or something… I want to get started, but legally and rightly. I’m a go big or go home gal, and the game is far from over. Hugs to all starting, getting ready to start, 6 months in, a year, 2, 2.5, 3 years, 4,or even a full 5 years. Trans women and trans men alike. You are all valid. You will all be, and are already who you need to be. Your body will catch up. :) Hugs!
Is the 'Take It On' scheme working well...?
Currently at each term of this scheme, the 4 lucky applicants get to meet and work with some of BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s best DJ’s & Producers, which is almost like a dream come true for aspiring radio students like myself. One of the students who is currently in the 2nd year of my Radio Production course, has been lucky enough to have been chosen as one of the four students to go on the Take It On scheme ! His name is Pete Simmons and he is currently on the scheme on London and he is blogging and tweeting regularly about his experiences of the BBC's almost ‘cornerstone’ radio work experience scheme… Pete was lucky enough to be offered an interview after 8,000 other aspiring young people had applied. He was eventually chosen to be one of the four to get the great and potentially life-changing placement.
