Anakin x Grace thoughts for this ship so for this au, Grace ever told Rocky he can’t make it home and there was no leak. So two years later Anakin on his Republic Attack Cruiser we’re passing by and then they saved him. So after Grace wakes up he freaks out as the first thing he sees are Kix, Fives and Echo. After a while Grace gets used to it, still gets the uncanny valley from the clones. The 501st love Grace as he is very kind to them and remembers there names. Anakin gets attached to Grace and now Grace is stuck there and for this au he is not a big fan of touch. (for this au Padme is with Sabé and she is just friends with Anakin)
ok so there has been a lot of discussion about how much of grace’s recordings are going to be released and how it is prob not going to be made public that he didnt go willingly, but i think we should talk more about how much conspiracy theories are going to pop up about the whole thing when its all over with bc i think they are going to be WILD we already know there is some degree of public uncertainty about whether or not the sun is even in danger in the first place and the government(s) are keeping knowledge of the whole thing pretty under wraps so i dont think it is a reach to say the whole time things would be pretty jaring for people and a wide array of opinions spreading fulled by the fear of losing the sun after its all over, i think this would probably largely fade out except for in fringe groups where conspiracy would run wild and i think where this genuinely gets interesting is that there elements that happened they could dig into although i doubt anyone would be even close to the actual conspiracies (ie grace not wanting to go to space). hours upon hours of grace teaching rocky pop culture being cut from the portions of the video tapes released to the public? CONSPIRACY! the tapes only starting after the crew dies? the portions of grace regaining his memory or missing home being cut? CONSPIRACY somehow one middle school teacher discovering three separate alien species? CONSPIRACY!! and so many more possibilities just a disclaimer tho i have only watched the movie, i have not yet got around to reading the book
Ok so one thing I found cute about the movie is the sleep custom of the Iridians, where they look each other sleep for security, because they have really deep sleep and are completely defenseless. Maybe its an old survival behavior that just stayed as a custom or maybe there’s something risky about the way they sleep that means monitoring would help, but anyways, Rocky was alone for 47 years (maybe less I don’t think all the crew died inmediatly) and he had NO ONE to watch him sleep. Imagine how anxiety ridden that must have been. This seems to be a deeply ingrained custom that he just could not complete, he went to sleep for years not knowing if he would wake up, if all be cared about on Erid would be lost. I think it makes his attachment to Grace so much Tender and loving.
currently thinking about: if things had been different, like any type of different, and ryland and eva had developed a romantic relationship, and ended up marrying would have they make it public or would have they elope? and return in two or three days with their wedding rings and the entire crew of the vat or baikonur, would be like finally interchanging money of the bets i love to think about the second bc it would be so funny
Really random thought considering i rarely post on this blog anymore, but like. Has anyone that got obsessed with project hail mary thought of how cool it would be if while drifting through space, they found Ripley and Jones in their escape pod? Like hear me out. Ripley and Grace would be friends i think. A scientist, a pilot, and an engineer! Ripley would also probably be friends with Rocky after the first meeting causing her to freak out, since the last aliens she met were parisitoids that explode out of you and pick you off one by one. This is also hilarious with the context of Grace referencing Alien in his vlogs when he first met Rocky. Rocky and Jones would be mortal enemies
Do you think Grace’s body could start growing vivianite crystals after he dies?
