hey, say more about whatever cup/disc company you work with pls? I've been using reusable pads bc I bleed heavy but I'm curious about cups
HI YES I LOVE CUPS AND DISCS 5EVR!!!! i started using the cora easy-does-it cup like 4 years ago and never looked back. i had only ever used pads, never tampons, so the cup was my first experience with an inserted period product. i think i used this quiz to choose my menstrual cup, it looks like they have a disc version too. i’m not sure if any kickback they may get influences which product they recommend, but they do give you a coupon code if they have it at the result. my roommate recommended the saalt disc , and i’ve been using that for about a year. that’s the company i have a discount code for, they have both cups and discs. i tend to alternate between the saalt disc and cora cup. i have a high cervix and a regular/slightly high flow, so the disc works a tad better for me. the disc the disc is more flexible and does a “self emptying” thing, if you squeeze your pelvic floor right it will release the blood it’s holding in so you don’t have to take it out - great if you have a heavy flow! you should still take it out and give it a rinse every 12 hours. the disc sits behind your pubic bone. at first i thought that it would be harder to get in the right spot between cervix and pubic bone, but i’ve never had a problem. it usually has a little divot that you stick your finger in to kinda scoop it out the cup i feel like the cup reduces my cramps more. there’s anecdotal evidence for both discs and cups reducing cramping pain, but not a ton of studies from what i’ve seen. a cup is a little more rigid, stays using suction. this does make it a little harder to get in and out because you have to fold it right to get it in and break the seal and pull the tail at the bottom to get it out. a cup sits up higher in your vagina than the disc, so it’s easier to feel like it “gets lost” (it will not get lost it cannot fit up your cervix i promise) i love not having to worry about it at work, and very rarely have leaks with either the cup or the disc. i find the disc a bit easier to get in/out but that might be because i used the cup for a couple years first. it’s cheaper in the long run, far more comfortable, and can stay in for most of the day. yeah, it’s messy to empty, but i have very rarely had to do that outside my own bathroom. i feel like i understand my anatomy better using my cup, and i dread my period significantly less compared to when i used pads. if you’re worried about getting it in/out, there are some brands that have a tampon-style applicator for their cup, or a disc with a tail that’s easier to pull than the scoop divot. i haven’t tried any of those myself, but there are lots of options!! im down to answer any questions about my experiences with each, no matter how personal. happy bleeding!
july 7th context: i have horrible periods that leave me exhausted and sick every month on july 7th i’m getting an IUD. which is lwk terrifying bc i’m a trans man anything to do with any female anatomy makes me dysphoric, but at least i’ll stop being bed ridden.
Started my period a few hours ago and I look so much more paler than I did earlier today holy fuck, I mean, keep in mind I’m already pale, (and have a vitamin D deficiency) but Jesus Christ, I was significantly pinker a few hours ago, and now I’m fucking white also ibuprofen didn’t work again and it’s been hours, so I think I’m growing a tolerance lol yay, fun
You may be asking me: Ace, how do you clean your reusable period underwear when on your very heavy flow periods? Throw it in the shower and spray the begessus out of it. Is it the most environmentally friendly option? Nope. But I refuse to use pads anymore unless I’m desperate (they’re insanely uncomfortable) and ive never used a tampon and I’m scared to tbh. Anyway Period underwear is great. I use Knix for both that and swimwear.
Sleep deprived and on my period which means I’m ready to start ripping off the ballsacks of any men who mildly inconvenience me
