you’re welcome [ third watch : bosco + faith ] Bosco comes to Faith’s apartment after he files the report. Spoilers: 4.3 “To Protect" … “What, no O’Malley’s?” she asked, strangely relieved to see him at her door with a six-pack of Heinekens in his hand. His mouth curled up the side of his face, synced up perfectly with the shrug he made. “Nah. Didn’t seem right knowing you’re home, taking care of everything.” Faith blushed, and a lump formed in her throat as she quietly admitted, “I’m not, though.” “What?” Bosco stepped inside, shutting the door behind him slowly before he set the beer on the side table. “What are you talking about?” His eyebrows pressed together with concern, and Faith could feel the salt that started to sting her eyes. “I’m not taking care of everything, Bos,” she confessed again. “I got home tonight, and Emily had taken care of everything—cooking dinner, doing the dishes, putting Charlie to bed, packing lunches for tomorrow, all of it.” It was his hand on her shoulder that forced a tear to escape. “And I tried to explain what happened, that we had that missing kid, but she…” Another tear fell down her cheek, and then another as she started to really cry. “She didn’t care.” “Hey, sh-sh,” Bosco’s voice hummed as he pulled her into a hug. “It’s ok, Faith.” She clenched her eyes shut, clutching his back like she’d fall completely apart if she let go. And she realized it was the first time in weeks that someone held her together, not the other way around. In all actuality, Bosco had been holding her together, ever since he pulled up to that building as the lights came on and found Faith carrying her husband over her shoulder. She couldn’t stop replaying that moment over and over again in her head. Usually, it’d replay more frequently and more vividly when she was alone, awake, staring at her apartment and wondering if Fred would ever come home. And she wondered if Bosco would be there for her if, God forbid, that would ever happen. He would. She knew that without a doubt. She saw it in his face a couple of hours earlier as she thanked him for being there that night, as she wondered out loud what could’ve happened had Bosco not been there… He squeezed his arms a little tighter, and she slowly let out a breath all the way. “Thank you, Bosco,” she whispered against his shoulder. And as she opened her mouth to say something else, to thank him again because she could never say it enough, or to ramble on more about the what-ifs and could-haves, Bosco kissed the side of her head. “You’re welcome. Always.” His breath on her hair was warm and comforting, especially as his voice vibrated lightly again. “When are you gonna let someone take care of you for once, huh?” She huffed out a modest laugh, grateful for the smile that only her partner could bring to her face. “Never,” she teased as she finally felt everything inside of her start to relax. Bosco loosened his grasp and pulled back to look Faith eye-to-eye. “I’m fine, Bos. Really.” His blue eyes narrowed, unconvinced. She should’ve known better than to try and lie to him. And then a hint of a smile touched his mouth. “Nah. I know you better than anyone.” Bosco said it so confidently that it made Faith blush again. “And I’m gonna take care of you. Starting with this…” He pulled two green bottles out of the packaging, twisted the caps off effortlessly, and handed one to Faith. She hesitated as a wave of guilt threatened. “I don’t know, Bos…” But then she flicked her eyes back to his and finally accepted the beer. Bosco tapped his bottle to hers, and Faith watched with a strange mixture of relief and hope as he smiled before he pressed the green glass to his lips. She mirrored his movement and swallowed a crisp, cold swig of beer. Faith licked her lips, and Bosco smiled more. His deep blue eyes twinkled as he looked at her. “You’re welcome.” …

if you were able to write the script of a jay centric cpd episode, what part of his character would you want to explore?
Holy shit what an amazing question! I think absolutely no one is going to be shocked by this answer, but for fun I’m going to give you two that I would kill to have explored in an actual episode. Number one , obviously his past in the Rangers and by extension, his relationship with Mouse. A lot of Jay’s past in that aspect was only given in exposition by other characters, example, Will telling Erin about Mouse’s bond with Jay. I’d honestly would love to see a military related case (that doesn’t end with Jay sleeping with someone involved and almost fucking up his career) in which Mouse returns (and very importantly, doesn’t get killed off by these trigger happy writers) for the send off his character was denied. I’d looooooooooooove to have an actual flashback episode like MacGyver that explores his actual time in the military and see him in action but I know that’s absolutely never going to happen. I remember the conversation he had with dear old Al early in season one, when they were talking about their military background and when Jay said that he was in the Rangers, Al’s reply was ‘that explains a lot’. I want to know that . What does it explain? Why would Al say that? I want that aspect explored instead of just being mentioned whenever the situation calls for it. Number two , Jay actually dealing with PTSD over the shit that he’d been through while on the job. Remember when a bullet he fired killed a little girl? Remember when a fellow soldier died in his arms while trying to help him? Remember when it happened TWICE? Remember when his father died and he never got the closure he deserved and the last words he said to him had been in anger? Remember when he got shot? Remember when he was kidnapped and tortured and his teammates forced to watch? Remember when he got shot again? Remember when his best friend left to go back to fight the war they both barely survived? I remember. You remember. Why don’t the writers? Anyway, bitterness aside, I’d love an episode where he’s forced to deal with the trauma when it suddenly becomes too much. There was an amazing episode of Third Watch , in which Bosco who was dealing with PTSD over the tragedy of 911 and having to watch his mentor and someone he looked up to go mad, try to kill him before eventually committing suicide right in front of him, had a massive panic attack after a paint pack in bag of stolen cash exploded in his face. He eventually broke down in the arms of his best friend and partner because she was the only one he trusted to let it all out. It was an amazing character story that spanned a couple episode and an amazing scene of vulnerability in a character usually so stoic and emotionless (besides his default state of anger) that was swept under the rug. In fact, Bosco’s traumas are dealt with with so much more care by the Third Watch writers than the PD writers could ever imagine. (For the record, Bosco to this day remains of my most favourite TV character ever. Bosco and Faith is the partnership standard in which I compare all TV partnerships.) Imagine that happening with Jay and him going to Hailey because she’s the only person he trusts to open up to. Imagine it! And it’s not even an unrealistic type story to have in the show right? Third Watch could do it, why can’t Chicago PD? For the record, I hold Third Watch as the standard in which I compare all first responder TV shows from now on, cause in terms of just all round quality, it has yet to be beaten. And I’m sorry that this ended up turning into a Third Watch stanning post.
Faith: 'Opera For Dummies'? Boy, they sure knew their market. Bosco: Shut up. Faith: Come on, what do you expect to get out of that? Bosco: I know a little bit of Italian from my grandmother, I just want to be sure I know the broad strokes of the story so I don't look like a complete idiot. Faith: Want a suggestion? Don't take that in with you.
Gray (Third Watch | Faith/Bosco(?) | 2k) by nowhere_blake hi hi hello, so I wrote a thing :) I recently binge-watched the entirety of Third Watch, and the 9/11 episodes really just… moved something in me. Fast-forward a couple of days, and here we go, I finished this little ficlet about Faith and Bosco. Posting it on here as well, in the hopes that it finds the few other lurking fans of this amazing show, but also hoping that people outside the fandom will give both the fic (there’s no previous knowledge required) and the series a shot too. The eleventh comes every year, and sometimes it’s cold and windy, sometimes it’s just as bright and warm as it was that day. Sometimes Faith is completely okay, but sometimes she remembers , and sometimes people ask, and sometimes she thinks about all the things that she can never forget. Sometimes she thinks about seeing him there. For him it’s about running and pitch-black, for him it’s about hearing the rumble of the first plane go overhead in some one-night stand’s apartment. For her it’s about him. The TV show Third Watch told the lives of New York City police officers, firefighters and paramedics working on the so-called ‘third watch’, the 3pm to 11pm shift. The show started in 1999, they had no idea what was to come, how important their fictional characters’ reactions to real-life events would become. The show dealt with September 11 in an incredibly meaningful and admirable way, first through a two-hour special of interviews ( part 1 & part 2 ) with real-life New York City first responders and their families, followed by an episode directly dealing with the day before, one about the harrowing days of the aftermath, and then even in later seasons, never forgetting about the events, never ignoring them. I’m sure you can find many clips from the show online - let me just share the one; it’s not even been a year since that day, and after a handful of panic attacks and a fair amount of denial, Bosco finally breaks down . Here’s what you need to know about the fic’s two main characters. Faith and Bosco are two New York City police officers, from the (fictional) 55th precinct, who have been partners for about nine years at this point. At first glance it’s an unlikely pairing. Bosco is an 'act now and think later’ kind of, aggressive and fairly arrogant guy in his early thirties, dedicated to catch bad guys by all means possible. Faith is a married mother of two, with the strongest New York accent and the most endearingly annoying laugh - she’s the one you can count on to be reasonable, she’s pristine with her paper-work, she’s level-headed, clever and responsible. It might seem like, she’s just there to keep him in check, but she can be just as reckless as Bosco, just as tough, just as aggressive. When it comes down to it, they are both good cops. They’ve been through a lot together, but they are partners and they always will be. This is about the two of them, - because as much as this is Faith’s story -, as everything else in her life, it all leads back to him in the end. If you want to consider donating or getting involved, 9/11 Health Watch takes care of survivors and first responders who are still suffering from illnesses and medical conditions caused mainly by breathing in the polluted air and dust on the day, and in the aftermath, during the cleaning up process. Tuesday’s Children provides help and counselling for those affected by terrorism and traumatic loss.
