Laura (Hungría, 1930) Un proto-Pop Art del introductor del arte moderno en Hungría. Vilmos Aba-Novák (Hungría, 1894–1941) Ottó Herman Museum, Miskolc (Hungría) Vilmos Aba-Nóvak es uno de esos pintores injustamente olvidados. Un húngaro que destacó por su virtuosismo y originalidad y que apenas es conocido fuera de su país, donde introdujo el arte moderno. En este retrato de Laura se mezcla el expresionismo con el Novecento italiano. Una figura bebe en un bar, rodeada de publicidad (pop art en 1930?) y diversas naturalezas muertas. Es puro art-decó, tan moderno como glamuroso. Destacan todo tipo de colores primarios entre el fondo gris, demostrando el exquisito dominio de la composición del artista, y sobre todo enamoran los ojos de Laura, que absorbe ensimismada de su pajita mirando al infinito.

“If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” - Edward Hopper. As I grow and explore in my artistic journey, I find myself reflecting on experiences that are hard to put into spoken words. Journaling has helped process them to a point. Speaking about them to my therapist and my husband has also helped some. Painting them? Putting that raw emotion and experience on paper where I can visualize it and express it, perhaps better than in words, speaks to something about the human mind. Are there any memories or Painful thoughts, or maybe anxiety that you find hard to process through the normal channels?
