This was a spur of the moment decision to load up and take a hike. I haven’t hiked since Finch passed, but I’m trying to find stability in life again. I’m glad Atlas actually seemed to enjoy himself. Getting him to hikenis a hit and miss, but it was so nice out today.

Unfortunately, over the past few months post Wrigley’s ACL repair surgery, his body had a bad reaction to the metal plate and screws stabilizing his leg. After multiple courses of antibiotics failed, he had to go in for surgery today to have the plate and screws removed. While in the operating room, it was discovered that his entire joint was infected as well as the areas around the hardware, so the surgeon performed a necessary joint flush as well. This second, unplanned surgery was over $1100 (on top of the $4500 for his first procedure). Fundraising is our least favorite part of running a non-profit, but we will always do the uncomfortable job of asking our supporters to help when it means rescuing and meeting lifelong medical needs for each animal in our care.
