Short Story - A non-fiction comic As you may know, I have applied to Graphic Storytelling BA, TAW this year, but unfortunately got rejected after the first part. However, I want to show you my portfolio, because I was proud of it after I have done it. I see most of its flaw only now. I will apply again in 2021, but until then, let’s see what I did for ‘19. Enjoy!
This is My OC P4MPKIN! Thank you to crystal-and-her-artz for making this OC art for me <3 Her name is P4MPKIN, but in her world. Obviously it’s Pumpkin. Trigger warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ Death, Self harm, and Graphic murder Here is her story. So, On September 12, in her small town, young Asher Clark was driving in her new car. She was crossing a stop light while her light was green. She passed with ease, but quickly a semi truck drove across the road and before she could stop. She slammed into it and she was decapitated. Police drives to find it was a hit and run and all that was found was a demolished Jeep with a decapitated young girl. She was only identified when her parents called to report their daughter never came home. Police told Asher’s parents that she might be the child killed and when they confirmed that the girl was their daughter, they hid from the public and within a week of that, Asher’s father Harrison was found hanging by a bedsheet in his room. He ended his life when he realized his daughter was gone. Her Mom disappeared from the world. She sold her house and all of her belongings and disappeared from the face of the earth. A funeral was held for Asher but her body was never put in a casket. It vanished. The body was poorly mistreated. They threw it into a pumpkin patch and left it there to rot, but it didn’t. Vines wrapped around her arms and legs as a pumpkin grew on the head, practically attached. One day eyes grew, and she stood up. She could move, see, breathe? She walked back to her old abandoned house in the middle of the night. She walked the roads and opened her old house door. She opened her bedroom door and her stuff was all gone. But she remembered one thing. A broken floor board where she had some knives. A dagger, and three bags of throwing knives. She grabbed them and walked to the local police station. 2 officers sat at the front desk. A middle aged man with greying black hair. Next to him sat a smaller girl, maybe mid 20’s or early 30’s with blonde braids. The man was sleeping and the girl looked sleepy and tired. Asher laid her hand on the table snapping the girls head up and grabbing her attention. Her name tag said Fae. She asked for Asher’s name. Ash’s response, Pumpkin. She threw Fae to the wall and stabbed her with a dagger in the stomach before throwing her to the floor. The man woke up but as he did, he was instantly killed with a knife to the throat. Officer Fae was still gagging trying to somehow survive which alerted the man in the back. He ran out from the desk he sat at to see 2 dead officers. He tried to shoot Pumpkin and landed a bullet in where her heart should be. Pumpkin killed him instantly, Stabbing him in the skull and tossing him to the floor. She walked back from where the man was to find camera footage of the crash. Pumpkin looked back at surveillance to see the driver follow a road that led to a housing addition. He parked in a neighborhood that was near 4 houses. 1 of which was her killers house… Part 2 will come soon
Me and @chiliconcomics are working on a project together, and here are some pieces I’ve made for it! I’ll share more about the project itself if anyone is curious, but it will have to wait until after our deadline. The project is for our bachelor, the so-called graduation project, the final BIG exam we do before going off to do internships. January 24th is nearing so fast!
The Cultural Importance of Comics Growing up, I found myself drawn to the vibrant pages of comic books. They weren’t just stories; they were gateways to new worlds. Each panel felt like a window into the artist’s mind, blending art and storytelling in a way that captivated me. From the early days of newspaper comic strips to the modern graphic novel, comics have evolved into a powerful form of expression. What makes comics so… The Cultural Importance of Comics
Read the first three paperback collections of Blue Period this past week, and it’s probably my new favorite slice of life manga, if not just my new favorite manga. Certainly it’s the top I’ve read this year. The art is astoundingly good. The writing is abundantly knowledgeable and technical while somehow remaining entirely human and relatable. Truly, I absolutely adore stories about people learning and growing in their passions.
Y’all remember the Fire Demon from my comic ? He’s gotten a glow up in this week’s character design workshop! A bit of backstory: he was shut out from the underworld due to being pranked by his demon friends. This has led him to be very bitter. In his pastime he likes messing with local villages by turning all the crosses upside down in the monastery, pretend to be a bonfire to save witches from burning and attempting satanic rituals to summon his belongings from the underworld to the mortal realm. (So far, the only thing he’s managed to summon are his fingerless gloves) He’s very lazy, and like an attention-starved teenager he’ll go out of his way to make people notice and talk about him, often with some dire consequences. Like being exorcised or chased off with pitchforks. Etsy Instagram Webcomic
