I’ve been thinking about ways you could disrupt the imperium if you could tamper with a planets exports, either through controlling the planet or infiltrating key positions, and there’s a lot you could do to hurt them while seemingly being loyal Like, imagine you export food, or water, or recaffe or whatever and your chaos cultists who taint it with se blessings of nurgle, laying low and potentially corrupting entire battalions of imperial guard or even an entire hive city. Or, spiking it with the 40k version of a party drug, causing mass orgies as worship to slaanesh while also distracting the guards and causing them to take higher casualties, weakening the imperium while fueling its enemies. Or spiking the rations with something that causes them to gorge themselves on their supplies, again generating worship for slaanesh while regiments starve to death after eating an 4 months of supplies in a week. Or spiking it with a rage virus and causing legions to slaughter themselves and each other. Imagine controlling the agri world for an entire system, spiking the food and causing such debauchery or bloodshed across a hive city or the entire system that it tears a hole in reality and deamons start flooding in Even away from chaos, imagine a genestealer cult spreading the infestation far and wide, smuggling genestealers into shipping crates, if they couldn’t work out a way to infect people just with tainted supplies. I remember hearing about a tyranid bioform that was tiny and could basically control people’s minds, imagine packing those in with a bunch of supplies, especially if you could include them in supplies you knew were going to regiments fighting the tyranids. Even better, imagine your world produce excellent alcohol and you slip these parasites into a crate heading for regimental or planetary leadership, even any form of leadership! You could cripple entire regiments or planets while appearing loyal and never giving the inquisition a reason to come poking around. Even if they do, imagine if you’re able to send your supplies to the regiments that would be fighting against you should it come to open conflict. I’d imagine they’d call on the nearest regiments first, and it would make sense for those to have been supplied by nearby systems, yours included. Of course, this is just thinking about food. You could tamper with the alloy used to make lasguns, making them less reliable. I imagine even actually loyal worlds have looked for ways to cheapen the production process at the cost of quality. Explosives that one in a hundred times don’t go off, or go off without a fuse, las rounds that don’t hit quite as hard as they should, or run dry when they should have a couple rounds left, tank tracks with a weak link or structural supports with hairline fractures. Hell, a component used in generating geller fields that fails could just disappear entire voidships.

There are some weapons I’m happy not to see in the hands of the Darktide.
