How to store electric skateboard batteries in winter? The lithium-ion batteries used in most electronic devices (cell phones, laptops, etc.) as well as electric skateboards are sensitive to: - Use (charge and discharge) - How we store them when not in use - high temperature - very low temperature - Moisture How to Maintain Electric Skateboard Batteries? Here are some tips for storing electric skateboard batteries 1. How to use (charging, discharging) If you can avoid full discharge and full charge, the life of the battery will be extended. The most effective method is to use the battery until it reaches about 20%, and then charge it to about 80%. Of course, in real life this is not always possible, as sometimes we need 100% capacity, but in many cases we can achieve this by planning how we will use the electric skateboard that day. If we use and completely discharge the battery, it is very important to charge it as soon as possible. 2. Longer storage time If you don’t plan to use your electric longboard for a long time (say more than two or three weeks), it’s best to charge or discharge the battery to 40 - 50% and leave it that way (according to the Battery University website, the optimal storage charge is 40%). A good storage temperature is about 10-15 ℃ (50-60 ℉), but room temperature is also fine (generally between 5 and 25 ℃ (40-77 ℉)) if long-term storage is required and, if possible, every Every few weeks, up to a month, it is better to turn on and rotate the motor for a minute or so, as well as insert the plug into the socket, for example 10-15 minutes. The worst thing that can happen is a completely drained battery and no charge. Keeping them fully charged is also detrimental to their lives, so these scenarios should be avoided as much as possible. 3. High temperature Very high temperatures are bad for batteries and can even be dangerous. Don’t place your veymax electric skateboard and equipment in hot places, keep them out of direct sunlight during hot months, and never leave them in a car parked in the sun during the summer. The temperature inside the car may exceed 50°C, or even exceed 70°C (over 150°F), which is very dangerous because at such high temperatures, the battery can release toxic gases and even catch fire. 4. Although low temperatures around zero and below are not as bad as high temperatures, they are also detrimental to battery life and performance. 5. Moisture Storing them in a dry place with good ventilation can protect lithium-ion batteries from rapid self-discharge and corrosion caused by moisture. If possible, it’s best to place them on a wooden surface rather than a metal surface. I wish you a happy and safe journey!

Do You Need a License to Ride an Electric Skateboard ? The short answer is usually no , but it depends entirely on where you live and the power of your board. In most parts of the United States and Canada, electric skateboards are treated similarly to bicycles or electric scooters, meaning you don’t need a driver’s license, insurance, or registration. However, some regions (like California or parts of Europe) have specific rules that might surprise you. The Legal Landscape of 2026: Do You Need a License? 1. The United States: A State-by-State Patchwork In the U.S., there is no federal law for electric skateboards . Instead, each state makes its own rules. Most States: No license is required. You are generally free to ride in bike lanes and on streets with low speed limits (usually under 35 mph). The Exceptions: A few states, such as California, Alabama, and Massachusetts , technically require riders to possess a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit to operate any motorized vehicle on public roads, including “electrically motorized boards.” Age Limits: Many states require riders to be at least 16 years old . 2. The United Kingdom: The “Private Property” Rule The UK has some of the strictest laws in the world. As of 2026, it is still technically illegal to ride a privately owned electric skateboard on public roads, pavements (sidewalks), or cycle lanes. Because they are classified as “personal light electric vehicles,” they would legally require tax, insurance, and a license—but because they lack signals and brake lights, they cannot be registered. The Reality: You can only legally ride them on private land with the owner’s permission. 3. Canada and Australia Canada: Most provinces, like Ontario and BC, treat them like e-bikes. You don’t need a license, but you must be 16+ and wear a helmet. Australia: Rules vary by state. In Queensland, they are legal on paths and local streets without a license. In New South Wales, regulations are tighter, often restricting them to private property unless part of a specific trial. When a License Might Be Required Even in “friendly” areas, you might cross into legal trouble if your board is too fast. The Speed Threshold: Many jurisdictions draw the line at 20 mph (32 km/h) . If your board can exceed this speed, it may be reclassified as a “moped” or “motorcycle,” which does require a license, registration, and insurance. Motor Wattage: Some areas limit motor power to 750W or 1000W . Boards exceeding this may be seized if ridden on public paths. Essential “Stay Legal” Checklist Before you head out, check these three things to avoid a ticket: Helmet Laws: Even if a license isn’t required, a helmet almost always is (especially for those under 18). Night Riding: Most laws require a white front light and a red rear reflector/light if you are riding after sunset. Sidewalk vs. Road: Many cities have banned “motorized” travel on sidewalks to protect pedestrians. Please feel free to stick to the bike lanes whenever possible. Pro Tip: If you are stopped by a police officer, be polite. In many areas, the laws are so new that even officers are unclear on the specifics. Having a copy of your local “micromobility” or “e-bike” statutes saved on your phone can be a lifesaver. Also read: Hub Motor vs. Belt Drive: Which is Better for Electric Skateboards?
Should we do tricks on an electric skateboard? Electric skateboards are mainly used for commuting around a city or just cruising around with for leisure. When it comes to tricks a street skateboard is probably what you think of first. If you’re hip, you probably know about freestyle on boarding or dancing. But what about electric skateboards why aren’t people doing tricks on these. The biggest reason is the fact that they are so heavy, the average street skateboard weighs around seven pounds, but the average electric skateboard weighs around 15 pounds or more. Because of the longboard shape of these boards, it’s naturally harder to do tricks. Because you don’t have a kick tail to pop your board up which is the basis of all tricks. But with a little bit of creativity and a bunch of determination, there are some tricks you can do on an electric skateboard. Today I’m going to show you 3 that I’ve done most of which are really easy. Actually, you can probably do them too starting things off with a very first trick which is the hippy jump. How to Do Tricks on Electric Skateboards? If you guys want me to do a full video on how to do this, let me know in the comment section down below. And I just might anyways those are 3 of my favorite tricks to do on an electric skateboard. Let me know what your favorite trick was in the comment section down below. Should we be doing tricks on an electric skateboard? Honestly I don’t think so, when it comes to tricks just stick to your regular board. These boards aren’t made for that they’re just so heavy and they’re expensive. If you break it, but again if that’s what’s fun for you. I say go ahead and do it, do tricks on these boards. That’s what it’s all about having fun, there are no rules to skating. Do what you want man, just do you breath actually.
Some of you were asking about range. Took the wheel with 120 brand new p42a cells 46 miles from 82v to 70v, so there was a little bit of charge left but it was dropping fast and iirc this guy will start tilting you back around 65v. I was averaging a little over 16mph because trails have a lot of stops, people, and “surprise! Here’s some street for your face!” kind of root bumps, so mostly I was doing 20-25 but stop and go. #molicelp42a #gotway #nikola #longhairedboy #esk8 #customesk8 #pev #probuilder #electricskateboards #electriclongboards #esk8builders #esk8builder #esk8life #esk8riders #esk8renegades #esk8orlando #esk8squad #esk8squadorlando #esk8squadusa #prolevel https://www.instagram.com/p/CbSlJ1sLkJR/?utm_medium=tumblr
