July read: Welcome To The Hyunam-Dong Bookshop The story starts with Yeongju, the bookshop’s owner, on her initial months of running the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop. She was not quite sure how the direction of the bookshop will go but nevertheless, was set to run it for at least two years. As she was learning how to run the bookshop, she met different people — friends, customers, and colleagues, who gave more colour and life to the bookshop. Each characters going through life, learning how to live and navigate to find meaning, purpose and happiness. The stories and interactions they shared with one another, creating a safe space and later on, build friendships. Things I learned while reading this book: 🍀 It is okay if you are feeling lost at the moment. They say, trust the process , i do believe it is true. Let life take you and surprise you. It is okay to have a plan and it is okay if you are still figuring it out. Just don’t forget to live the moment. Before you know it, the train of life has passed by but the important things is, how you manage to spend that time.. did you enjoy? 🍀 Ending things and starting over is hard but trying to embrace things that is not working well anymore hinders you from living and having your inner peace. We are sometimes afraid to put an end on things because of society’s pressure, judgement or that we may end up regretting that decision. But the thing is, you should learn when to let go and when to hold on. 🍀 Work is important. No doubt. So is your life too. We need to balance everything. Without balance, there is chaos. Learning how to pause, breathe and do the things we love are also essential. It will prevent burn out. 🍀 Achieving your dream does not really equate to happiness. For the time being, it may be.. You may have your dream job yet you’re still not happy. There are a lot of factors, environment, people etc. We always strive to achieve happiness. But how do you really define happiness? As for me, for now, it is having my inner peace and thinking that i am living my life well. 🍀 We disappoint other people and be disappointed by them too but that does not make you a horrible person. Sometimes, we expect a lot from other people but if we only learn to look things from a different perspective, we might be able to understand one another. Many people learn to talk without actually listening. The words we let out from our mouths actually holds so much gravity than what we might know. 🍀 Being surrounded by good people is a gift. If you manage to find them or — find you, cherish and keep them. They are your heart-lines.
