At 1-A the CAUCASIAN OVCHARKA is one of the oldest GUARD DOG breeds listed, opposite its counterpart in Russia being the newest dog on the block. The ALABAI and CENTRAL ASIAN OVCHARKA are breeds similar to the OVCHARKA, and considered under the same ranking. . . A breed native of the Caucasus mountains, it is one of the oldest molosser breeds sharing its heritage with many of the Soviet funded Red Star Kennel, a military based K9 facility. The breed was utilized in many of the new breed creations the famed kennel produced for military use during the Cold War. . . Throughout my rankings I’ve touched on how important DEFENSIVE drives are for the construction of a great guard dog. The OVCHARKA is the epitome of what we call a DEFENSIVE monster. I read somewhere describing the breed, to get chased and bit by this breed is like getting hit by a 357 magnum. I don’t know what it feels like to be shot by a gun but I do know what it feels like being charged and bitten by this breed, and I’ll say you’ll probably not be alive to tell the story of how you got away. . . . The OVCHARKA is a true working dog thats comfortable as a family dog. Due to its untrusting nature, he should not be trusted around strangers. An extra large dog with some weighing as much as 150lbs with thick coats, the breed does well in colder climates but can acclimate to warmer weather. A experienced and firm handler should own this dog and training at an early age is highly advisable since the breed is very dominant. Although the breed is a loyal family member when raised socially, I wouldn’t advice young children without supervision. . . Some defaults: as with all large breed, hips, shoulder and elbows are of concern. ❗Друзья! 😷 В связи с пандемией COVID-19 мы ввели в Дог-центре Тольятти следующие правила: 👥 обязательно соблюдение требований социального дистанцирования 1,5 метра ☣ каждые 2 часа в зале проводится проветривание, кварцевание и уборка рабочих поверхностей с использованием дезинфицирующих средств 📝 предварительная запись на занятия не позднее, чем за 1 день ☎ отмена/перенос тренировки по хендлингу не позднее, чем за 1,5 часа до занятия (обязательно позвонить администратору по телефону) 🏡 просим воздержаться от посещения зала людям старшего возраста 👮 если представители власти Вас остановили на улице и спрашивают, куда Вы направляетесь и почему отошли с собакой от дома более, чем на 100 метров, следует ответить: “В соответствии с Постановлением Правительства Самарской области №244 от 10.04.2020 и Постановлением Губернатора №70 от 03.04.2020 я следую в Дог-центр Тольятти на бульваре Ленина 21 для предоставление мне услуги по дрессировке (или по аренде хендлинг-зала для занятий с собакой). Услуга предоставляется по предварительной записи”.
