Michael Jochum is in Arvada, CO . As if this White House UFC circus had not already thoroughly embarrassed the presidency, the institution, and the country, it somehow managed to descend even further into the gutter. Fresh off his fight, Josh Hokit grabbed a microphone at an event being staged on the grounds of the White House and shouted, “Michelle Obama is a man.” That was it. That was the contribution. Not a thought about America. Not a reflection on the nation’s 250th anniversary. Not a word about service, sacrifice, citizenship, or unity. Just a juvenile insult aimed at a former First Lady in front of a cheering crowd that has increasingly confused cruelty with courage and ignorance with authenticity. Let’s be clear about what happened here. A man was handed a microphone at the White House, the White House, and chose to use it to hurl a playground taunt at a former First Lady. If you had written this scene into a political satire ten years ago, an editor would have rejected it for being too absurd and too on-the-nose. This is the same White House where presidents have hosted world leaders, negotiated peace agreements, comforted grieving families, honored military heroes, welcomed civil rights icons, and attempted to project the best version of America to the rest of the world. On this particular evening, however, it served as the backdrop for a multimillion-dollar spectacle where one of the featured attractions was a fighter shouting insults about Michelle Obama. And perhaps the most predictable part of all was what came immediately before it. Hokit thanked Jesus. Of course he did. Nothing captures the contradiction at the heart of modern performative outrage culture quite like invoking faith and humility moments before publicly humiliating someone for applause. Somewhere between the Beatitudes and the microphone, the message appears to have gotten lost. What makes the entire episode so revealing is that it strips away all the patriotic wrapping paper surrounding this event. The giant flags. The military flyovers. The endless speeches about America. The declarations of strength. The choreographed displays of toughness. Beneath all of it lies something much smaller, much pettier, and much more juvenile. Strip away the fireworks and sponsorship logos and what remains is often little more than grievance, mockery, and the desperate need to own perceived enemies. Michelle Obama has spent years encouraging education, public service, healthy living, and civic engagement. Whether one agrees with her politics is irrelevant. She conducted herself as First Lady with a level of discipline, composure, and dignity that stands in stark contrast to the carnival atmosphere that unfolded on the South Lawn. The fact that a former First Lady became the target of a cheap insult at an event supposedly celebrating America tells you everything you need to know about the priorities of the people involved. The entire evening increasingly felt like a metaphor for the age we are living through. A giant steel structure towering over the White House. Billionaires congratulating billionaires. Corporate sponsors plastered everywhere. Politicians, influencers, and celebrities mingling beneath patriotic branding. Fighters emerging through rooms historically reserved for diplomacy. And now, apparently, insults directed at former First Ladies serving as entertainment. This wasn’t strength. It wasn’t patriotism. It wasn’t even rebellion. It was trashy. White Trashy. Not because of the sport. Not because of the athletes. Not because Americans enjoy competition. It was trashy because a building that is supposed to symbolize the highest aspirations of a democratic republic was treated like the set of a reality television food fight. For years, defenders of Trump have insisted that critics were overreacting. That every new outrage was being exaggerated. That every breach of decorum was insignificant. Yet nights like this reveal the cumulative effect. Standards matter. Institutions matter. Symbols matter. Once you stop caring about them, eventually you find yourself applauding insults where statesmanship once lived. And that is precisely what happened at the White House tonight. And Trump fell asleep. Lawsuit Aims to Stop U.F.C. Fights at White House on Trump’s Birthday A federal lawsuit said the event, set for June 14, was unlawfully planned and designed to benefit Mr. Trump and his allies. By Zach Montague Reporting from Washington June 7, 2026 A political activist and a Vietnam veteran represented by an anti-corruption organization filed a lawsuit on Saturday challenging what it called the “night of cage fights” that President Trump planned to hold at the White House as part of the celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary. The case was filed just over a week before the event, which is scheduled for June 14 and is being organized by the mixed-martial arts promotion Ultimate Fighting Championship. The White House has been overshadowed in recent weeks by the construction of the venue for the fights , which includes a 600-ton steel arch on the South Lawn. The lawsuit argues that the transformation of the grounds was never authorized by Congress, and that the event will serve as an extraordinary use of government space to benefit both the chief executive of U.F.C., Dana White, and Mr. Trump, who is an investor in U.F.C.’s parent company . “The president is giving White and his company what none have enjoyed before: unfettered access to the White House and Lincoln Memorial to stage a private, for-profit sports event, with all the promotional and branding opportunities that accompany such access,” the lawsuit says. The Lincoln Memorial is scheduled to host ceremonial weigh-ins for fighters before the event. The U.F.C. did not immediately return a message seeking comment on Sunday. A statement emailed by the White House called the suit “obstructionist” and without merit, adding that the event was “no different” than various other White House-hosted events. Beyond the procedural claims that the lawsuit skipped an environmental review and took over federal spaces for an event without the approval of Congress, the case focuses heavily on questions of improper financial gains. It cites reporting that U.F.C. was selling premium tickets to the event for more than $1 million, and the fees that Paramount Skydance, the media company owned by two other executives with ties to the president, Larry and David Ellison, will collect for streaming the event. The suit also notes that Mr. Trump purchased between $15,000 and $50,000 worth of stock in TKO Holding Group , the parent company of U.F.C., in March — while he was in the process of promoting the event. Though Mr. White and U.F.C. have billed the event as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations, the fight is being held almost three weeks before Independence Day, on Mr. Trump’s 80th birthday. “The event is neither ‘for the celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence’ nor, crucially, being ‘planned, organized and executed’ by the federal government,” according to the suit. As in other cases challenging abrupt changes Mr. Trump has made to Washington, such as his plans to build a 250-foot triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery, the suit says the event will cause an “aesthetic injury.” Beyond the South Lawn and the Lincoln Memorial, the fighters in the event are also expected to “make prefight walkouts” from the Oval Office, according to the lawsuit. The plaintiffs in the case are Susan Douglas, a retiree and political organizer, and Paul Romano, a Vietnam War veteran. They each argue in the lawsuit that they frequent the area and were offended by the spectacle being held outside national monuments. The Public Integrity Project, a nonprofit group focused on good governance and public corruption, is representing them. The case was assigned on Sunday to Judge Amit P. Mehta, an Obama appointee in Federal District Court in Washington who will face the early question of whether the plaintiffs face direct harms because of the event in such a way that they can sue. The U.F.C. event was scheduled to take place a year after Mr. Trump staged a military parade in Washington to mark the 250th anniversary of the Army, which also coincided with his birthday. Zach Montague is a Times reporter covering the federal courts, including the legal disputes over the Trump administration’s agenda.
Our clans will be nothing but soldiers. Raised to be as comfortable in battle as they are in bed. Instilled with an unshakable #faith in #God and with a sense of mission and purpose. As familiar with classical music as they are with Clausewitz. #Children not raised but forged. Our #compassion will truly be compassion because it will not be a false gentleness born out of weakness and inability but it will be a gentleness that comes from self control, discipline, and #righteousness . We live in dark times and we have no right to be weak or to raise our children to be weak. #Strength is our duty, suffering is our calling. “The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name” Exodus 15:3 Reach out to us to learn more and get involved in #Florida
This week’s Females of Metal Friday is Rachel Aspe, French national vocalist for the UK band Cage Fight. She’s also a very talented tattoo artist. Cage Fight is described as “One of the most furious hardcore records to emerge from the UK in years, the anger and frustration of Cage Fight’s self-titled debut album is the perfect catharsis for our times.” Rachel’s vocal style and aggressive singing support the statement above amazingly! I absolutely 2nd that statement! I must give a shout out to @sophiegracesblog for this one! She brought this band to my attention a few weeks ago and after listening to just 2 songs, (IHYG and Pig) I immediately went out and purchased, and downloaded their debut album from 2022. (Those who have followed these posts enough, know I promote purchasing albums to support these bands!) I look forward to more material coming from this band. There is supposed to be a new album released sometime in 2026. No official date has been announced yet, but I expect it will be soon. 😉😉 Give this band a listen, like I have. If you don’t find your foot tappin’ 1000mph, you might want to check your pulse, because you may be dead!! 🤭😝 That’s it for this week. Until next week…. Long Live Metal!!🤘🤘🤘
Cage Fight Flying motorcycles and bloody gladiators have taken over the hallowed ground of the White House. They’re shitting on Pelosi’s desk again. This time they’re selling tickets The wanna-be king thinks violent spectacle, a flood of AI memes, and a blue pool will distracts us from the economy he ruined and the disastrous war he lost. Oh, and the ghost of Jeffrey Epstein. The massive majority will look away in disgust at the trashification of the White House. Many will instead attend watch parties that feature the talent and passion Trump cannot muster. I will walk these canyons, look around, and know that in the unfathomable life span of the planet, the Trump era will be recorded as a mere stain. Then I will enjoy dinner with my family and remember why we resist and commit to building a better world. Chip Ward
