Exactly a year ago I was in Havana, Cuba with my family for our annual cruise. It was our first time there and also the first (and sadly last) year cruise ships from the US offered trips to Cuba. It was an amazing day filled with stunting in antique cars, learning about Cuban history and culture, smoking cigars, drinking rum, dancing, and listening to live salsa music. Of course we couldn’t leave Spain without having paella. This brothy rice paella with lobster was a little different from the traditional but it was delicious nonetheless. The burrata with tomato tartare was a refreshing dish. It’s so nice to have a good salad when traveling abroad with actual dressing and not just oil and vinegar. We’re getting ready for outdoor family time! Do you ski? Have you ever taken your kids skiing? Do you own, lease or rent the kid’s ski equipment? We own and pass down equipment from kid to kid. Our oldest daughter is now in our old skis and boots. We started them all skiing as soon as they could walk. The oldest started skiing @sundayriver in Maine over 13 years ago. I’ve taken the kids skiing even while pregnant and when I couldn’t ski. When we had newborns and infants, hubby and I would wear our boots and wear the baby in an @ergobaby carrier. We would switch out doing runs. Skiing is such a fun way to get outdoors with kids during the winter. A pandemic season is the perfect time to try new outdoor activities! Traveling with a toddler has definitely been an adjustment but we didn’t let it stop us from checking out a beautiful vineyard in the Douro Valley. I booked our tour through With Locals, one of my favorite sites for booking experiences when traveling abroad. A few weeks ago, I connected with our tour guide, Anselmo, who’s a Porto-native and wine enthusiast with a 2 year old son. He was great with Sterling and it truly allowed us to relax and enjoy our time at the vineyard as he kept him entertained the whole time. He even came prepared with a portable high chair. We’ll definitely be leaving Porto with a few bottles of port.
