With their warm apple cider, cinnamon, and nutmeg flavors, these Baked Apple Cider Doughnuts make a delightful fall treat. Because they are baked rather than fried, they are a healthier choice without compromising flavor. Ingredients: 2 cups apple cider. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder. 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda. ½ teaspoon salt. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg. ¼ teaspoon ground allspice. 2/3 cup granulated sugar. 2 large eggs. ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted. ½ cup buttermilk. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. For coating:. ½ cup granulated sugar. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted. Instructions: Simmer the apple cider in a saucepan over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until it reduces to ½ cup. Give it time to cool. Grease a doughnut pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius. Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice in a mixing bowl. Beat the reduced apple cider, granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, buttermilk, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Mixing until just combined, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Load the batter into each doughnut well, filling the pan to about two thirds full. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a touch springs back into the doughnuts. In a shallow bowl, combine the ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon while the doughnuts are baking. After baking, take the doughnuts out of the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Coat each doughnut with the cinnamon-sugar mixture after dipping it into the melted butter. Savor the mouthwatering Baked Apple Cider Doughnuts! Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes VB Studio
Alright. I don’t normally post at all, and I may be talking into the void here. But this is something that really interests me and makes me happy, so I will yap to my heart’s content. I, myself, am a staunch HuskerDust believer. But I’ve also come to love one Hazbin crackship in particular: RoyalFlush/AppleCider, the ship between Husk and Lucifer Morningstar. I’ve seen a handful of Hazbin fans talk about and make fanworks of this ship, but, on the whole, no one in this fandom even entertains the idea. I hope to remedy that with this post. To any other RoyalFlush/AppleCider enjoyers, I hope this deep dive - and it is going to be a DEEP DIVE, so get your snacks and get cozy - lets you know that you are not alone in loving the ship between the alcoholic cat and The Devil From The Bible ™ . To anyone who has never considered this ship before, I will do my very best to pass my brain rot onto you. Okay! Without further ado, let’s talk ship! RoyalFlush/AppleCider - An In-Depth Exploration/Appreciation Post (Note: This ship will be analyzed from a chiefly platonic perspective because I love friendship, but please feel free to make your own interpretations! This post also includes a few song recommendations for this ship, if you’re interested!) The Surface Level At first glance, these two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. They’ve only canonically interacted once. Lucifer is a (ADHD-coded) mess with a rubber-duck obsession and a superiority complex. Husk is an grumpy old tomcat with two addictions and a creepy boss. Not much overlap there. However! They do share some commonalities! They would be Pansexual Bros. Obviously. They both have gorgeous wings. They both despite Alastor. At the end of the Season 1 finale, they were the only ones who were not happy that Alastor was still alive, lol. They would so talk shit about that cannibal deer together. Both of their wives left them. (When will Husk’s husband return from the war?) Both of them have depression. They both have associations with gambling/casino motifs. They both have associations with ✨ magic ✨. Both of them give off extreme “divorced dad” energy. (If you’re familiar with Medrano’s early character concept art, you’re likely aware of a character named Crymini and the father-daughter relationship they were originally written to have. I love Father Figure/Parent Husk so much.) They also give off “burnt-out gifted kid” energy. (More on that later.) Quick Aside: Because of their contrasting personalities, they would make such a fun comedy duo! I envision them starring in a buddy-sitcom called “Divorced”, with recurring guest star Stolas. They should all switch hats. It would be funny. The Deeper Stratum Our AppleCider journey continues. Let’s expand on the aforementioned points some more. I feel like they would bond over how they both discovered their sexualities. Maybe they would share some stories about their escapades. (I am a firm believer that Lucifer and Lilith had an open marriage, and Husk has been confirmed by the show to be a whore [affectionate].) Husk likely stopped taking care of himself when he ended up on Alastor’s leash (Velvette did call him “mangy”). His wings are probably unkempt. Lucifer would notice this and offer to help Husk preen his wings. Cue the bi-monthly get-togethers where they preen each other’s wings, shoot the shit, play cards, and watch shitty movies/soap operas/musicals. Vaggi probably joins them on occasion; I call the three of them The Wings Club . They would have nights where they all go flying together for a few hours. It would be cute as hell. (The View From Up Here from Tangled: The Series (2017-2020) always makes me think of this scenario: https://youtu.be/jXosy7laTek?si=C6w-FybW4UMh4I6K. ) Husk and Lucifer both being chained and restricted as a result of their own prideful actions would make them empathize with each other all the more. They are both so damn lonely. It’s fairly obvious with Lucifer; Husk tries to pretend that he’s not, but we all saw it on his face when Angel went back to Valentino. They are such simps for their respective partners. They would get drunk and cry about it together. This would eventually lead to them falling asleep while cuddling and snuggling. They would be each other’s comforting presence as they ruefully reminisce about where they both went wrong in their lives. Depression manifests in different ways, and Husk and Lucifer are perfect examples of that. Husk numbs himself with drinks and bets. Lucifer isolates himself and obsesses over his ducks. Both of them do these things to escape their shitty lives and to avoid actively confronting their personal issues. AU Idea [Inspired by the Studiopolis Zone Act 1 Theme from Sonic Mania (2017) - https://youtu.be/PvuYSybooLg?si=6zu6GcbMxtE2B60n]: Overlord Husk and the King of Hell open a joint-casino together. Think of a fusion between World Bowser from Super Mario 3D World and The Devil’s Casino from Cuphead. Every once in a while, they put on a spectacular magic show that is well worth the price of admission. I think the song Fama Destinata from Belle (2021) would fit the vibe of such a performance: https://youtu.be/ZT77juhTaf4?si=GjU1NW9wpriYDfSd. As an extension of the previous bullet point, they are both extremely proficient in magic. The ways they both use sorcery in the show are so unique. Husk would definitely show off his mastery of sleight-of-hand and Lucifer would love every second of it. I also like to imagine that they teach other different spells and incantations. The aura of divorce clings to this two. Of course, Lilith left Lucifer and he has no idea when she will return, Season 2 finale notwithstanding. He has been estranged from his daughter for an exceedingly long time and that relationship is hella strained. But he is trying his best to do right by her presently, even though he’s not very good at it. For Husk, my theory is that he got divorced at least once when he was alive, which is supported by a couple of lyrics from Love In A Bottle ( Gin never lies or fucks you over, it goes down the same every time ). He locked his heart away and forced himself to never care for someone that deeply again. Then he met Angel. And then the HuskerDust divorce happened. In regards to Crymini: according to Medrano’s early character descriptions, Husk is good with kids. If Husk started working on overcoming his addictions, he would be such a great father. Another AU Idea: If these two were co-parents, they would definitely have a dynamic similar to Kazuki and Rei’s from Buddy Daddies (2023). They are both such girl dads, dude. I mentioned them both being burnt-out gifted kids. They are the two characters in the show who fit the description of “has-been” the most. At some point in their lives, Husk and Lucifer were at the tops of their fields - overlord and seraph, respectively - the best of the best. Then, The Incident happened as a result of their own hubris (The Deal with Alastor, The Fall from Heaven), and they lost everything: power, status, respect. They both lost the passion they once had and fell into a deep depression from which neither has fully recovered. As discussed earlier, it’s easier for them to retreat into their vices/obsessions. These old men would take such good care of each other. Whenever one is having a rough time, they’d seek out the other’s company. They’d find a quiet spot - I always picture them having sleepovers in Lucifer’s room - cuddle up all warm and snug with their wings wrapped around each other, and take a nice, peaceful nap. They would be so precious. The Core The Beginning - So, how would this relationship start? Here’s what I was thinking: They definitely would not hit it off right away. Lucifer is way too awkward to strike up organic conversation with anybody. He would likely hear about what Husk is going through with Angel from Charlie and get a little curious about the guy (Lucifer has also been shown to like cats, so maybe that also factors into his interest as well). Because he’s so bad with social interaction, he wouldn’t just walk up to Husk and introduce himself. He would observe from a distance. Watch Husk work at the bar and internally scream at himself to just fucking talk to the guy. Husk would be well aware of this silent stalking, and after a few days to a few weeks of this behavior, he would demand to know why the hell Lucifer is staring at him. The King would likely turn tail and run like the coward he is (I say this because I love him, so it behooves me to call him out on his bullshit). Eventually, though, Lucifer would take a seat at Husk’s bar one night and request a drink. Husk would oblige, albeit begrudgingly. They would sit in silence for a bit. Then, Lucifer would make eye contact with Husk and ask him, “Do you miss him? That spider fella?” Husk would stop dead in his tracks. “Why are you asking me this?” he would inquire. Lucifer would give him a wistful smile. “I know how it feels.” And thus, a new friendship is made! After that, they would talk all night about anything and everything. They would eventually move their conversation to the couch, taking their places on opposite ends and sipping their drinks. Just a couple of old-timers talking about life. The Mutual Development - With time, the symbiosis of their relationship would increase significantly. Lucifer’s zaniness would bring out Husk’s silly side. They would sing and dance in the kitchen while making pancakes together, all domestic and shit. Lotsa stimming as well. (You cannot convince me that Husk is not neurodivergent; bro was literally bouncing in his seat during the Love In A Bottle sequence.) Husk might also feel motivated enough to get back into performing magic shows with Lucifer by his side. At some point, Husk might divulge his desire to tackle his addictions at some point, and Lucifer would be all in with his support. He and Charlie would get Husk into arts and crafts as a healthier alternative. Husk would hate it at first, but would probably take to poetry, as evidenced by the 2026 Valentine’s Day merch. He would also partake in the Making of the Ducks with Lucifer. They would use their magic to build dioramas to put the ducks in and create a duck society. They would take great pride in this. Husk’s level-headedness would keep Lucifer in check. Life has already knocked Husk down several pegs, so he’s learned how to keep his ego in check. When Lucifer is on his bullshit, Husk would not hesitate to call him out on it. For instance, Lucifer might say some offhanded derogatory comment about Sinners, and Husk would just look at him and go, “Isn’t your wife a Sinner? The very FIRST Sinner? You do realize that when you demean Sinners, you are tacitly demeaning your wife in the process. The woman you claim to love.” This would DEFINITELY piss Lucifer off and he would stop talking to Husk for a bit. But after thinking about it for a while, The King would realize that Husk was right and apologize to him. With this new perspective, Lucifer would start to understand why Charlie and Lilith are so adamant about their respective movements: they want to provide their people with the second chances that Lilith and Lucifer never got to have. He would start help around the hotel whenever possible, but would still mostly keep to himself. But he would put in the work to deconstruct his classist/elitist beliefs to better support Charlie and, by extension, his wife. Husk would also teach him profanities in different human languages. The Fully-Realized Relationship - I personally believe that these two would be each other’s best friends. They would have fun hangouts and existential crises together. They would be such cuddle bugs, snuggling up together and giving each other forehead kisses (because I am a sucker for casual intimacy). And when Angel and Lilith return, they would so make sure that the other is successful in romancing them. Their friendship would be stupid and corny and heartfelt and wonderful. I love this crackship. Conclusion So, I hope I was able to convince you to become a RoyalFlush/AppleCider enthusiast! If not, I hope you enjoyed reading my obsessive ramblings! I’ve had all these thoughts on my mind for months and I wanted to put them into words. I really want this crackship to get more love and appreciation in the Hazbin fandom. Hopefully, I was able to do that with this analysis. Thank you very much for reading! Take care of yourself! Edit: Totally self-indulgent addition (as if this entire post hasn’t been self-indulgent enough already): The Celestial Theme from the Balatro OST is so AppleCider-coded in my opinion. I love how ethereal it sounds: https://youtu.be/U9BSbfuWgoE?si=mOcZYHEYNVQhmCds.
