Daily Album: 4 Today, I listened to Avatar, by Comets On Fire Album art by: Jeff Kleinsmith Released: 2006 Album Length: 44:46 Genre: Indie Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Math Rock I’d figure with the very mainstream track of the day I’d give y'all something actually somewhat obscure. This album kicks ass, but it gets nowhere the amount of attention that I think it should. With the album length, you’d expect there to be more songs than there are, but most of these songs are on the longer side, with the shortest being just slightly under 3 minutes long and the rest not going under 6 minutes. Fun Fact! Though this band would never gain a mainstream following, they would find enough success to open for bands like Dinosaur Jr. and Mudhoney. Favorite Track: Jaybird. I just really like the vocals.
ALBUM REVIEW: Blank Banshee 1 by Blank Banshee This record is like a mix of vaporwave, trap, and techno all combined their strangest elements. The thing that really ties this album together throughout the entire project are 808 drums and bass and random percussive sounds. This album also has lots of soft synths. The style of drums is like a proto-trap style, with simple grooves and prominent snappy hi-hats. The synths are very ambient but can really grab your attention on tracks like “Eco Zones” or “Cyber Slums.” Some of the more ambient tracks are more captivating that some of the other ambient music without being too intense, which is something that is difficult to do with an Ambient style. I’m not as familiar with Ambient music than with other genres, but I can see that this album tends to be more pop-oriented and has less of a “4-on-the-floor” feel than artists like Aphex Twin. The style of drums clearly aged to have an association with trap with really affects the way the sound is dating as the trap sound became more widespread with artists like Future and Lil Uzi Vert, and the boundary-pushing samples like the droplets and vocal chops definently influenced hyperpop styles like SOPHIE or 100 gecs’. Overall it’s a really unique experienced that was probably ahead of it’s time and has probably aged to become even more unique. Rating coming soon i got behind
albums im listening to la cuenta-rohff its soooo gooood especialy thug marriage and on peut pas tout avoir, i also listened to chief keef’s finaly rich yesterday and the rough tracklist of odetari’s new project. i think these albums are reallyyyy good, im rlly into 2010s american and french rap, i think the vibe is rlly cool
Daily Album: 3 Ok look I forgot yesterday ok? I was never gonna be consistent with this anyways. Anyways today I listened to Dayglo by Love Battery. Album cover by: unknown. Will update if I figure out who made it. Released: 1992 Album Length: 40:50 Genre: Psychedelic, sorta grunge kinda A very dense, very loud album, this is one of my favorite albums ever. Sometimes it’s hard to know what’s really going on but I vibe to it all the same. Also a contender for album cover of the week. idk I just really like the battery over the solid hot pink background. It hurts the eyes in a good way like the music hurts the ears in a good way. Fun Fact! There was a song off of another one of Love Battery’s albums, (Red Onion off of Straight Freak Ticket) that ended up as lostwave for some time. Favorite Track: Side With You. Pretty fun to sing, and a blast to listen to.
