So, with today’s news, let’s see what current changes are happening for Universal Orlando Resort: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift currently under contruction, soon to replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. Fast & Furious: Supercharged to be closed down soon, with its replacement yet to be announced (although there’s rumors of Back to the Future returning to Universal). Finnegan’s Bar & Grill is currently under major refurbishment for the entirety of 2026. The Lost Continent is currently in the process of being demolished to make way for a new land, which has yet to be announced (although Pokémon is heavily rumored to replace LC). Jurassic Park River Adventure is currently under major refurbushment, slated to reopen in November 2026. Five Guys Burgers & Fries are slated to open at CityWalk, replacing the now-closed BK Whopper Bar, at some point in summer 2026. Country singer Luke Combs is slated to open his third Category 10 restaurant at CityWalk in Late 2027. The Mythos Restaurant will be closing soon to make way for a new eatery, while Thunder Falls Terrace is chosen to succeed Mythos as Universal’s new signature restaurant. Thunder Falls Terrace will be closed starting this summer as the restaurant will undergo a massive transformation into a full-service restaurant.
Things that should be in Theme Parks 1 i need to ramble about my current hyperfixation in long form okay? Under the cut for brevity SO I am really into theme parks right now in anticipation of my near future visit to Orlando and some of the theme parks there. For that reason, and my ongoing love of Defunctland, I have been watching a LOT of theme park videos and got into the Missing Buzzy rabbit hole. [ Here is a catch up summary for those interested ] Anyway, as youtubers do, there is a lot of circling the point about not only a reasonable theory on what happened to Buzzy but also what to do with the abandoned pavilion now. My theory on what has happened to him aside, the what to do now with the abandoned wonders of life pavillion. My suggestion is controversial with the theme park girlies since they HATE the fact that more and more IP is taking over the park [its fucking Disney. That’s an IP in and of itself ffs] but this: Make it an Inside Out pavillion. Cranium Command can become an Inside Out show with new animatronics or even having Buzzy as a cameo character. They have literally already done this with It’s Tough To Be A Bug turning into Better Zoogether. I know they dismantled Body Wars but if they built it back and themed it to Inside Out, that could work - they have gotten better at motion sim rides. The rest of the pavilion could be themed to Inside Out [pour one out for the fact that Osmosis Jones is owned by Universal who will do NOTHING WITH THAT IP EVEN IF ITS SO FUN AND GREAT AN- *tossed into the padded room*] I know they won’t do this any time soon with villian land and Cars and Tropical america currently on the docket but it would be neat. Now since we are also blue sky-ing here, I would also love it if they put the Incredibles in Epcot. Either replacing Mission SPACE with idk DASH training where you go at the full speed of Dash [and then the attached restuarant would be incredibles themed like contemporary and they would play its awesome music] or make a motion sim version of the Incredicoaster - like the story of that ride but in mission space and it can go even faster than the coaster since they are supers and coasters have speed limitations. Put Bing Bong into Journey Into Imagination like him and Figment are brothers or cousins. Toss Dreamfinder into there too. I was going to say put a coaster into Spaceship Earth but it just isn’t built to do that - it isn’t space mountain and they would have to literally dismantle the whole weenie [disney speak for ‘icon of the park’] and they would never do that BUT what about adding WALL-e to the ride [or Living with the Land] or BAYMAX. Add Baymax to Spaceship Earth or to the Wonders of Life Pavillion! He could talk about health and stuff or even just have a meet and greet with him there. To line up with what I am going to say in the next paragraph, the new Rapunzel ride that is in France should be in the Germany pavilion in Epcot. You can’t really add Merida into the UK pavilion due to Scotland’s very justified issues with England BUT you could add it to Animal Kingdom. Just a focus on Bears in Disney Movies like Brave and Brother Bear. On the Universal side of things - they could, since they have access to Dreamworks IP, replace Lost Continent with Rise of the Guardians. They already have Hiccup in Epic Universe. And by their powers combined, they would have the Rise of the Tangled Brave Dragons fandom by their FUCKING NECK. Also, going back to my theory about Buzzy and him probably tucked away in a Disney archive somewhere, they could add him to Mission Breakout in DCA as a part of the Collection with his buddy Figment. They can say the Collector took him. Hopping back to Universal, for toon lagoon they should maybe have more rides. I know its supposed to be a water park area but like I would love a Brenda Starr dark ride, not all that different from Jimmy Fallon or Spiderman. We have the technology! ALSO make a Kingdom Hearts ride. By Universal. Since Disney is too much of a coward to do anything with the franchise other than teasing. Mind, I know Universal could probably only use the original characters like Sora and Riku etc etc, I mean in Smash, I don’t think they have any disney characters in it [let me know if I am wrong] so there is precedent. But where would they put this? Epic Universe. ALLEGEDLY they are adding pokemon to the park but a BETTER choice would be adding a SMASH BROS park. Theme it after the Subspace Emissary or World of Light and they get a chance to do micro lands on a bunch of Nintendo franchises just to test the feasibility of other immersive lands [Legends of Zelda would go SO HARD even if its just based off BOTW/TOTK] so yeeeeeeah Last one [and there will be more posts like this on other parks], They have Jurassic Park/World…but they also have the rights for Land Before Time. WHY THE FUCK ISN’T THERE A LAND BEFORE TIME RIDE OR PLAY AREA was it a thing did i miss it i wanna have a fuckin startree backpack or purse Universal jesus chr- anyway, these are things I would put into various theme parks if i had stupid amounts of money, thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Also Rip Ride RockIt’s track was completely demolished today 😢 RIP, you beautiful headache. (Just for fun, my favorite songs to listen to on-ride were It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me and The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Honorable mentions were Pump It, Hella Good, and Paralyzer)
Neat little find I made just in time for the season: The original B-roll footage for the televisions inside Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Cafe at Universal Studios in Florida.
Earlier this week, I had the privilege to spend a day at Universal’s new theme park in Orlando, Epic Universe. While I didn’t make it to every land, I had some thoughts about strobe light safety I wanted to share from my experience, including the strobe light risk for a few attractions. First off, as usual, Universal does a far better job than Disney at posting strobe light warnings at the entrances of relevant attractions. Every ride or show I saw had a sign containing relevant health advisories, and I did see posted strobe light warnings wherever they were needed. The first attraction I experienced was Le Cirque Arcanus in the new Harry Potter land, a live show that incorporates Newt Scamander’s magical suitcase from the Fantastic Beasts Trilogy into its story. This show had a strobe light warning posted on its health advisory boards, and an announced strobe light warning over the speakers within the first waiting room. The show did incorporate some lightning effects, as well as some colorful flashes of light from magic effects. Moving on from the live show, I waited in a long but constantly-moving line for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry , a new simulator ride. Within the queue, there was a projected sky with dark clouds that occasionally flashed with dim lightning, never creating a noticeable strobe effect on the lobby below. On the ride itself, there were not any severe flashes, but there was some colorful flashing from magical combat in well-lit environments, similar to daytime battles from the films. Near the end of the ride, there was a man with an old-fashioned camera taking a picture, and this part does have a bright flash with very little warning. The ride did have a strobe warning, and was right to have one, but I did not find the strobe effects on this ride to be particularly severe. This is just my opinion, and should not be taken as any form of medical advice. My next stop was Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge . Beginning with a slight navigational mistake within Super Nintendo World, I climbed more stairs than I had in years while navigating the world, including within the queue for the ride. After a long line, and 15 extra minutes in the final room before the boarding station and no communication of ride errors, I finally sat down and attached a magnetic transparent visor to a plastic Mario hat I had been issued in the 15-minute room, and this provided an augmented-reality, or AR experience. The AR experience was wildly distracting from the display of impressive practical effects within the ride, such as a very refreshing burst of wind from a cloud character, a falling Thwomp, an animatronic Piranha Plant, and more. Aside from the distracting AR display, the weight of the visor attached to my Mario hat caused it to be very painful to wear the hat, leaving me with a harsh headache that the AR alone did not cause. I would not wait in line to ride this one again, and I would probably forego the AR portion of the ride if I ever ride it again. Unfortunately, I did not make it to Stardust Racers or even to any portion of How to Train Your Dragon : Isle of Berk. Following the onset of the Mario Kart headache, I opted to do only one more ride, one that was fortunate in multiple ways to have a short wait time. My final experience of the day was Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment . This one had easily the most strobe effects of the day, and the most severe. Some even happened in the queue, and I felt sympathy for the workers who had to stand in the room with the constant strobe lights, which was located at the top of the stairs that are there immediately after entering the castle. The two preshow rooms, one featuring Igor, and the other featuring Dr. Victoria Frankenstein and her Monster, did not contain severe strobe effects. The ride itself did, as did its loading room. While this is the only Epic Universe attraction where I would recommend extreme caution with strobe lights, it’s also one of the most impressively-themed, as the ride brings you through a story with a lot of familiar faces, such as Count Dracula, The Wolf Man, and more. Strobe lights are used in multiple story beats throughout the ride, mainly whenever Frankenstein’s Monster is seen. The quality of the experience of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment are worth the price of admission alone, and I cannot wait to experience the rest of what this park has to offer in the future!
Every iconic genius has an existential crisis ~ shout out to dr griffin for participating! I gave him no direction or hints about what I was doing, I just asked if I could put him in a “documentary” SINGING HIGH PRAISES TO BOTH THE GRIFFIN ACTORS FROM THIS DAY IN MY PARK SURVEY, I have met both multiple times and they are GOATED ! (genuinely really appreciate their interactions and the real stuff is going in those surveys) Puppet Griffin (Dr. Gwiffin) was made in a total of about 50 hours over the span of 6 days across 2 weeks. Because he was an impulse. I am not a puppeteer, and I have never made a puppet before. I have sewed one cosplay from scratch 3 years ago, and otherwise have no sewing experience. I’m a novice. I ENJOY USING MY FREE WILL AND WHIMSY (and audacity)
New personal life goal: go on the ET ride at Universal Studios Florida and have ET say goodbye to me with my preferred name
In an attempt to live up to a new year’s resolution to post more regularly, I figure I’d start with a wholly unclever meme to enter the DU/theme park fandom. I went to Epic back in September and while I went intentionally blind about Dark Universe, I was floored beyond my expectations by how GOOD this ride was! We did a loop of it at least four or five times that day. Outstanding five stars 10/10 would rec. I’m also a dyed in the wool HM fan, so who knows if I’m actually serious about this :eyes: don’t come for me
Since Pokemon Is coming To Universal Studios Japan and maybe Florida and Hollywood, this would be a golden opportunity for them to bring back Pokemon Live. I know Ash and Team Rocket isn’t in the Anime anymore but it would be still cool if they brought them back nonetheless
