My niece was born recently and it’s reignited my will to live It seems dramatic but to tell the truth, life has been hard lately and it’s difficult to get out and feel. You know that feeling where everything feels dull and you can’t stop sleeping and you don’t eat because you forget how to function? Yeah, depression just Is Like That I guess And then my niece was born. I get shown a picture that was shared by my cousin, he’s so excited to show his daughter and I start crying Imagine leaving a place of death, a literal cemetery, and a day after you are told that a new life was brought into the world. Suddenly I was reminded that life is worth living See, it’s difficult sometimes but when we remember that life is worth living, it feels like everything is brand new. Oh look at the sky, I never thought the sky could be so blue! Oh this tea tastes amazing, these tangerines are so sweet, they burst in my mouth like sunshine. The sun feels wonderful on my skin when it’s cold. I am loved. And I love in return. Live. Keep on living. Humanity and mundanity is beautiful.

What would you LIVE for. You depressive fuck. We all know your 13th reason would be if your coffee didn’t come out right in the morning, but what would make you want to live, huh?
Life is short and meaningless Go take that class that you’ve wanted to take but is outside your confort zone. Go ask that person out who you’ve had a crush on for a while. Go hug your loved ones and remind them of how much you care about them. Go eat that food you normally don’t because it makes you feel guilty. Life is meaningless. Life is short. So enjoy it. You are free.
Our fleeting lives
Yet another day I’m reminded that life is short and that we never know what may happen. To see a life where a person is suddenly no longer a part of it. To see family and friends try to figure out what to do with new gaping hole. Yet life still moves forward which is a crazy thing if you think about it. How time doesn’t stand still not even for a moment. I’ve often wondered how many times in my lifetime I’ve passed a hair away from disaster. Not even in just a lifetime but within a single day. At the speed everything is moving it’s a wonder how things still manage to remain intact despite it all. And when the worst does happen how we manage to rebuild, start over, move on. It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday humdrum and take for granted that we control so little in the end. So easy to forget that anything that is here can be gone the next. Sure we could live in constant worry of the worst but that wouldn’t be living. What’s important is to remember to take a step back now and again and take in the big picture of ourselves and others. We are all part of something so much bigger than ourselves. So don’t skimp on the “I love you’s” and the “you are important to me”. Don’t forget to laugh a little, love a little more and enjoy everything you can.
This site is dedicated to literature, arts, and culture. Electoral politics are usually beyond our remit. On a morning like this, when America has chosen a bigot and a xenophobe as its next president, my job feels pointless. But I don’t want to add to the chorus of despair, because I do believe there’s a role for art at a time like this, and I don’t say that lightly—words like these don’t come easily to me. I would rather make fun of things, and I’m struggling against an inborn fatalism. (My iPhone just reminded me to water my plants, and I thought, why bother?) The creative impulse is such a fragile thing, but we have to create now. We owe it to ourselves to do the work. I want to encourage you. If you aspire to write, put aside all the niceties and sureties about what art should be and write something that makes the scales fall from our eyes. Forget the tired axioms about showing and telling, about sense of place—any possible obstruction—and write to destroy complacency, to rattle people, to help people, first and foremost yourself. Lodge your ideas like glass shards in the minds of everyone who would have you believe there’s no hope. And read, as often and as violently as you can. If you have friends, as I do, who tacitly believe that it’s too much of a chore to read a book, just one fucking book, from start to finish, smash every LCD they own. This is an opportunity. There’s too much at stake now to pretend that everything is okay. [Source]
Latin Sigil: Momento Vivere
Latin Sigil: Momento Vivere Greetings everyone! Today I have another Latin Sigil for you, “momento vivere”, or “remember to live”. This is a little reminder to live your life, to do more than merely exist. The Latin is pronounced as “mo-mento vee-veer”. You may use this sigil as long as I retain credit as its creator. Do not remove credit, but otherwise, feel free to use and share. If you like my blog, my sigils, my tarot… View On WordPress
everybodyknows-everybodydies reblogged your post “Okay everyone I know I’m the worst, I have another survey, this one about texting and driving. It’s only 3 questions,…” @everybodyknows-everybodydies THANK YOU FOR REBLOGGING THIS ;-; I just got back to my computer but I saw you reblogged it earlier and I was like D’AWW THANK YOU Also, side note, “memento vivere” is a very cool title for a blog. YOURE AWESOME
I read somewhere that “ You can’t tell the same story twice and keep it true the second time” and that really stuck with me. A good story is a living one, that changes with each telling in accordance with your own needs, the needs of your audience and the uniqueness of the moment. I think that line far surpasses any story told or written and is true for your own life. You may find yourself, what feels like going on circles, making the same choices or mistakes or ending up at the beginning of the path you’ve traveled many times again. And I think it’s important to remember that even if the path is the same, the story will be different. Think about your ride to school or drive to work. It’s the same path every time, but in some you’re floating on cloud 9 or in the pits of hell, driving in silence or jamming out to music. Life is that way too. Don’t forget you’re alive and love yourself in this moment.
