NINE FRAMES, a LEMAIRE homage to cinema LEMAIRE presents NINE FRAMES, a film exploring the interplay of clothing and cinema. The film unfolds over nine vignettes, each spotlighting a specific emotion and gesture with silhouettes from the Fall/Winter 2025 collection. The cast comprises accomplished actors from the LEMAIRE community, connected by the singularity of their creative lives: Doona Bae, Erwan Kepoa Falé, Julie Anne Stanzak, Jussi Vatanen, Mame Binta Sané, and Viktoria Miroshnichenko. They inhabit the garments and scenes with independence and energy – engaging the camera naturally and bringing nuance to each take. Shot on 35mm, the film champions the chromatic and material qualities of analogue image-making. Sequence shots evoke a sense of real-time observation, allowing time, space, and emotion to unfold organically, creating a heightened intimacy between viewer and subject. LEMAIRE’s garments are also a cinematic lens, enhancing characters and everyday moments with an expressive, narrative intensity. Composed of disjointed fragments, Nine Frames invites a non-linear reading in which viewers construct their own narrative. A printed book and physical installations at the Elzevir, the Hannam and the Ebisu stores serve as material extensions of the moving image, offering an expanded cinematic experience beyond the screen.
