ive never stated im muslim, im agnostic! and umm honestly the only thing i see a tiny issue with is the implication that islam it more degrading or worse than christianity. i would suggest that both religions are more of a TOOL and excuse that is used to oppress people. for example during the genocide against indigenous people, colonization, and everything horrible christianity related, it was always framed as a “saving” of their souls. even nowadays it is a tool to excuse for being queerphobic, racist, and overall evil. many of those who “follow” the religion actually go against what the bible says. i would say that oppression using christianity goes more unnoticed compared to oppression using islam thanks to american propaganda, wanting people to believe that muslims (or basically, in their mind, brown people) are the issue instead of the regime of the taliban in Afghanistan for example. the oppression these women endure, from not being able to be HEARD in public to not being able to access healthcare, is terrible. this horrible regime uses religion as an excuse for these actions, but there are very few muslims that actually agree with their interpretation. i do support freedom of religion. but at the end of the day, religion is interpretation. its an interpretation of a jillion year old script translated into modern day language, translated and then re-interpreted differently by every single person, and completely bias towards our patriarchal, white supremacist society. it is a tool of oppression and has been a tool of oppression for centuries an centuries. whether or not someone can actually extract the true meaning of the bible or the quran is unknown to me, but so far, i truly don’t understand it and i never will.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah al- Furqan 55;60 25:55 And they worship besides Allah, that which can neither profit them nor harm them; and the disbeliever is ever a helper against his Lord. 25:56 And We have sent you only as a bearer of good news and a warner. 25:57 Say: “No reward do I ask of you for this, save that whosoever wills may take a path to his Lord.” 25:58 And put your trust in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His praises, and sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His servants, 25:59 Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days. Then He rose over (Istawa) the Throne. The Most Gracious! Ask Him, as He is the All-Knower. 25:60 And when it is said to them: “Prostrate yourselves to Ar-Rahman!” They say: “And what is Ar-Rahman! Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you command us!” And it increases in them only aversion. The Ignorance of the Idolators Allah tells: And they worship besides Allah, that which can neither profit them nor harm them; Allah tells us how ignorant the idolators are; instead of worshipping Allah, they worship idols which do not possess the power either to harm or benefit. They do this with no evidence or proof; the only thing that led them to do this was their own whims and desires. So they take these idols as protectors and fight for their sake, and they oppose Allah and His Messenger and the believers for their sake. Similarly Allah says: and the disbeliever is ever a helper against his Lord. meaning, he is a supporter of Shaytan against the party of Allah, but the party of Allah are the ones who will prevail, as Allah says: And they have taken besides Allah gods, hoping that they might be helped. They cannot help them, but they will be brought forward as a troop against those who worshipped them. (36:74-75) These ignorant people are troops for the idols and are ready to fight for their sake and protect their sanctuaries, but in the end the victory will be for Allah and His Messenger and the believers, in this world and the Hereafter. Mujahid said: “He supports and helps the Shaytan in disobedience towards Allah.” The Messenger brings Glad Tidings and Warnings Then Allah tells His Messenger: And We have sent you only as a bearer of good news and a warner. Say: “No reward do I ask of you for this…” `for conveying this message and this warning, I do not ask for any reward from your wealth; I am only doing this for the sake of Allah, may He be exalted.’ To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight. (81:28) The Command to the Messenger to put his Trust in Allah, and some of His Qualities Then Allah says: And put your trust in the Ever Living One Who dies not, meaning, in all your affairs, put your trust in Allah, the Ever-Living Who never dies, the One the is Who First and the Last, the Most High and the Most Near. And He is the All-Knower of everything.(57:3) The Eternal, Ever-Lasting, Ever-Living, Self-Sufficient One, the Lord and Sovereign of all things, the One to Whom you should always turn. Allah is the One in Whom you should put your trust and to Whom you should turn for refuge, He will be sufficient for you and will be your helper and supporter, and will cause you to prevail. As Allah says: O Messenger! Proclaim which has been sent down to you from your Lord. And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His Message. Allah will protect you from mankind. (5:67) Hence the Messenger of Allah used to say: Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. So the Ayah means: be sincere in worshipping Him and putting your trust in Him. This is like the Ayat: The Lord of the east and the west; there is no God but He. So take Him as a Trustee. (73:9) So worship Him and put your trust in Him. (11:123) Say: “He is the Most Gracious, in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust.” (67:29) Who created the heavens and the earth… means, He is the Ever-Living Who never dies, He is the Creator, Sustainer and Sovereign of all things, Who by His might and power created the seven heavens with their vast height and width, and the seven earths with their great depths and density. Then He rose over the Throne. means, He is running all affairs and He decrees according to the truth, and He is the best of those who decide. Then He rose over (Istawa) the Throne. The Most Gracious! Ask Him, as He is the All-Knower. meaning, find out about Him from one who knows most about Him, and follow him and take him as your example. It is known that there is no one who knows more about Allah than His servant and Messenger Muhammad, the absolute leader of the sons of Adam in this world and the Hereafter, who does not speak of his own desire, but conveys revelation revealed to him. What he says is true, and he is the leader whose decision counts; when there is a dispute, people are obliged to refer to him, and whatever is in accordance with his words and deeds is right, and whatever goesagainst them should be rejected no matter who says or does it. Allah says: (And) if you differ in anything among yourselves… (4:59) And in whatsoever you differ, the decision thereof is with Allah. (42:10) And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. (6: 115) Condemnation of the Idolators Then Allah rebukes the idolators who prostrate to idols and rivals instead of Allah: And when it is said to them: “Prostrate yourselves to Ar-Rahman!” They say: “And what is Ar-Rahman!’‘ meaning: we do not know Ar-Rahman. They did not like to call Allah by His Name Ar-Rahman (the Most Gracious), as they objected on the day of (the treaty of) Al-Hudaybiyyah, when the Prophet told the scribe: Write: "In the Name of Allah, Ar-Rahman (the Most Gracious), Ar-Rahim (the Most Merciful).” They said, “We do not know Ar-Rahman or Ar-Rahim. Write what you used to write: `Bismika Allahumma (in Your Name, O Allah).”’ So Allah revealed the words: Say: “Invoke Allah or invoke Ar-Rahman, by whatever name you invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the Best Names. (17:110) meaning, He is Allah and He is the Most Gracious. And in this Ayah, Allah said: And when it is said to them: "Prostrate yourselves to Ar-Rahman!” They say: “And what is the Ar-Rahman!” meaning: we do not know or approve of this Name. Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you command us! means, “Just because you tell us to!” And it increases in them only aversion. As for the believers, they worship Allah Who is the Most Gracious, Most Merciful, and they attribute divinity to Him Alone and prostrate to Him. The scholars, agree that it is allowed and approved for the reader and the listener to prostrate when he reaches this mention of prostration in Surah Al-Furqan, and Allah knows best.
The Favorite Foods of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Their Many Benefits (Part 1) (Source: Pinterest- art and illustration) (The characters depicted are NOT the Prophet or any one of his wives) ———————————— After surviving a Tumblr scam attempt and given my local religious institutions and masajid are sharing a lot of Prophet stories regarding the hijrah (migration) and beginning to celebrate the return of the Islamic month of ‘Muharram’, I figured I too would join in and share some fun facts about the prophet Mohammad (PBUH). I admit, I am quite the foodie. I love food. It was well-known that the purpose of food was to nourish and strengthen oneself for the worship of God. The guidance of the Prophet Mohammad in his food was the most balanced and excellent, as he was moderate in his consumption and diversified his diet without extravagance or excess. His supplication was often, “Oh Allah, provide Mohammad’s family with sustenance”. The sustenance here refers to the amount of food that sustains their condition, improves their affairs, and is sufficient for their efforts without any surplus that might lead to temptation or excess. Ibn al-Qayyim eloquently described the Prophet’s guidance regarding food: “His guidance in food was neither refusing what was available nor demanding what was unavailable. He would eat whatever good was presented to him unless his soul disliked it, without it being forbidden. He never criticized any food. If he desired it, he would eat it; otherwise, he would leave it. His guidance was to eat whatever was available”. It wasn’t the Prophet’s habit to limit himself to only one type of food, not extending beyond it. Doing so would greatly harm one’s nature and could sometimes be impossible. If he didn’t consume other foods, he would weaken or perish, and if he consumed them, his nature wouldn’t accept them, causing distress. Limiting oneself to one type of food, even if it’s the best, poses a harmful risk. The Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) used to eat the customary foods of his people, including meat, fruits, bread, dates, and others, as mentioned in his dietary habits. Dates: Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever starts his day with seven dates of Ajwa variety will not suffer harm that day from poison or magic ”. ( Al Bukhari 5445 ) He also said: “ Oh Aisha! There is no house in which dates are not present, but hunger will enter it. Oh Aisha! There is no house in which dates are present, but hunger and poverty will depart from it ”. ( Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2046 ) “ A house in which there are no dates is like a house in which there is no food ” ( Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3328 ) Dates were a significant portion of the Prophet’s diet. The fruits of a date palm tree (النخلة) are called dates( تمر ). Dates are rich in vitamins and minerals and are free from cholesterol and contain very low fat. They are a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin-A, iron, potassium, calcium, manganese, and copper. Other than these healthy benefits our beloved Prophet (PBUH) used to plant date trees himself. Fresh dates are recommended to be eaten at the time of childbirth. Dates are sometimes eaten with different things to annul any adverse effects. Prophet Mohammad himself would often eat dates with cucumbers as they’re both the opposite of each other in terms of the effect they have on the body so this helps avoid any harmful effects while strengthening the body. Abdullah Ibn Basr narrated “ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) came to visit us and we offered him butter and dates, for he liked butter and dates ” ( Abu Dawud 3837 ) Abdullah Ibn Ja'far reported “ I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) eating dates with with cucumbers ” ( Muslim 2043 ) (Source: Pinterest- Visage Artistique Nabeez : The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) often consumed a drink called “Nabeez”- prepared from soaked raisins or dates. Nabeez should be consumed within twelve hours of soaking to prevent fermentation. —————————————————————- (Source: Pinterest- Дана 2. Vinegar: Vinegar (خل) also known as THE SEASONING OF PROPHETS . Vinegar has been mentioned in a number of Hadiths. Vinegar was a part of the diet of all Prophets before Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Umm Sa’d had once said said: “ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) entered upon ‘Aisha, when I was with her, and said: ‘Is there any food?’ She said: ‘We have bread, dates and vinegar.’ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: ‘What a blessed condiment vinegar is. O Allah, bless vinegar, for it was the condiment of the Prophets before me, and no house will ever be poor in which there is vinegar. ’ ( Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith: 3318 ) Vinegar cannot be used in its original state it has to be diluted with water, continual use in its concentrated state will lead to increased heartburn and damage the enamel of the teeth. To have vinegar with bread is Sunnah. In Sahih al-Bukhari, it is narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “ T his black cumin is healing for all diseases except As-Sam. ” When asked what As-Sam meant, it was explained as d eath ( Sahih al-Bukhari 5687 ) Scholars have discussed the meaning of “healing for every disease.” Some interpret it broadly, indicating that black seed has general medicinal benefits, particularly for ailments like colds or moisture-related illnesses. Others clarify that it does not literally cure every disease, as no plant-based remedy can treat all illnesses. Al-Hafidh Ibn Hajar noted that it is beneficial for cold diseases, while Al-Khattabi emphasized that the phrase is general in wording but specific in meaning. Furthermore, Black seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins (B-complex), minerals like calcium, iron, zinc, and copper, and fiber. Research suggests black seed may support immune function, cardiovascular and metabolic health, and respiratory health. It is a natural cure for most types of illness. The Prophet (PBUH) used to drink a glass of water mixed with honey every single morning. Honey is deemed as a cure for all ailments. Aisha (RA) narrated: “ Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) used to love sweet edible things and honey, ” ( Sahih al-Bukhari 5431 ) “ Healing is in three things: cupping, a gulp of honey, or cauterization. But I forbid my followers to use cauterization (branding with fire). ” ( Bukhari 5681 ) Honey contains antioxidants like flavonoids and phenolic acids that may help protect against conditions like type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Darker honey varieties tend to offer more antioxidants than lighter ones. While honey raises blood sugar like other sugars, research suggests it may help improve fasting blood sugar levels and increase adiponectin, a hormone that can reduce inflammation and support blood sugar regulation. We talk so much. Sometimes it is better to be quiet and just listen to the other side. We don’t say that Islam is here to live, you know, to coexist with lots of different religions, and all of us can just hold hands and be friends. This religion has been sent to dominate, to wipe out, to take out every other religion, to have the people leave every religion and to accept Islam. And if that requires fighting to achieve it, then it requires fighting to achieve it. Because the greatest purpose for which jihad was legislated is to make the word of Allah the highest and the word of those who disbelieve the lowest. We are obliged as Muslims to take the authority away from the people who have it and implement the Sharia. Now I hope that can come in a very peaceful way. I hope that we can do that in a way, you know, where there’s no bloodshed. If the people, if the Muslims have authority and they have the ability to remove oppression, they must remove the oppression. So we believe man-made law is oppression because they are implementing a non-Islamic law of violating their own sanctity. No, I think there are two types of jihad in which people are engaging in today. One is the jihad of the word and the other is jihad of the sword. So in Britain, we are engaged in the jihad of the word and, you know, it’s as important to remove the ideological foundation and, if you like, the pillars of Western civilization like democracy, freedom, and secularism, and to expose them and to bring back people to worshiping the one true Lord, which is Allah. To the Western leaders, your time is up, your borders are fading, your disease is being sucked out and the unity of the Islamic Brotherhood is taking form. The sons of Islam have already pledged that this battle is a battle of either victory or martyrdom. Narrated Abu Huraira رضی اللہ عنہ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَلاَئِكَةً يَطُوفُونَ فِي الطُّرُقِ، يَلْتَمِسُونَ أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ، فَإِذَا وَجَدُوا قَوْمًا يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ تَنَادَوْا هَلُمُّوا إِلَى حَاجَتِكُمْ. قَالَ فَيَحُفُّونَهُمْ بِأَجْنِحَتِهِمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا. قَالَ فَيَسْأَلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَهْوَ أَعْلَمُ مِنْهُمْ مَا يَقُولُ عِبَادِي قَالُوا يَقُولُونَ يُسَبِّحُونَكَ، وَيُكَبِّرُونَكَ، وَيَحْمَدُونَكَ وَيُمَجِّدُونَكَ. قَالَ فَيَقُولُ هَلْ رَأَوْنِي قَالَ فَيَقُولُونَ لاَ وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَوْكَ. قَالَ فَيَقُولُ وَكَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَوْنِي قَالَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ رَأَوْكَ كَانُوا أَشَدَّ لَكَ عِبَادَةً، وَأَشَدَّ لَكَ تَمْجِيدًا، وَأَكْثَرَ لَكَ تَسْبِيحًا. قَالَ يَقُولُ فَمَا يَسْأَلُونِي قَالَ يَسْأَلُونَكَ الْجَنَّةَ. قَالَ يَقُولُ وَهَلْ رَأَوْهَا قَالَ يَقُولُونَ لاَ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَبِّ مَا رَأَوْهَا. قَالَ يَقُولُ فَكَيْفَ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَأَوْهَا قَالَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَأَوْهَا كَانُوا أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهَا حِرْصًا، وَأَشَدَّ لَهَا طَلَبًا، وَأَعْظَمَ فِيهَا رَغْبَةً. قَالَ فَمِمَّ يَتَعَوَّذُونَ قَالَ يَقُولُونَ مِنَ النَّارِ. قَالَ يَقُولُ وَهَلْ رَأَوْهَا قَالَ يَقُولُونَ لاَ وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَوْهَا. قَالَ يَقُولُ فَكَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَوْهَا قَالَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ رَأَوْهَا كَانُوا أَشَدَّ مِنْهَا فِرَارًا، وَأَشَدَّ لَهَا مَخَافَةً. قَالَ فَيَقُولُ فَأُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَهُمْ. قَالَ يَقُولُ مَلَكٌ مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ فِيهِمْ فُلاَنٌ لَيْسَ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّمَا جَاءَ لِحَاجَةٍ. قَالَ هُمُ الْجُلَسَاءُ لاَ يَشْقَى بِهِمْ جَلِيسُهُمْ ". رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ. وَرَوَاهُ سُهَيْلٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم.
