In his Primarch Book (Lorgar: Bearer of the Word) Lorgar’s eyes were violet, in The First Heretic his eyes on page 152 are grey, and in Betrayer his eyes are more red. Pretty sure this is not an inconsistency, but perhaps an intentionally described change over time as he falls to Chaos? “Eyes are the window to the soul” thought is cooking again (Cyrene my beloved). i have to pay more attention though, i feel like i’ve missed a lot. Also good to ask how other characters perceive him as well. Were his eyes not gold at one point, or turn that maybe? or am i thinking of fanart 😭
As Argel Tal made to move from the chamber, he saw his former mentor beckon him closer. Erebus was handsome only in the way a weapon could be called such: a cold blade, dangerous no matter who holds it, reflecting the light while producing none of its own. So you DO think he’s handsome!
Argel Tal: ‘We will return with the answers the Legion needs. You have my word,’ he gestured to the parchment bound to his shoulder guard, ‘and my oath of moment’. ADB: btw Lorgar’s wearing lipstick! The smile remained upon the primarch’s painted lips. …. searching for this in my copy of FIRST HERETIC, Lorgar’s lips sure get mentioned a lot. Appropriate, I suppose, as that’s one place he bears the Word but still. *side-eyes ADB*
Why I Think It’s Valid for Lorgar to Go Heretical
Specific dialogue from First Heretic by Aaron Dembski-Bowden “ ‘Kneel,’ he said. His timeless face was framed by dark hair the same colour as Lorgar’s facial stubble; like father, like son. ‘What?’ the primarch asked. He looked past the Emperor to Guilliman, straight-backed and proud. When he returned his gaze to his father, he wiped his eyes with his soft fingertips, as if to clear some lingering phantasm. ‘Father?’ ‘Kneel, Lorgar.’ “ 1. Lorgar and his entire legion are forced to kneel. Lorgar’s not even told any sort of greeting and it’s described how he looks at him indecipherably between hatred and kindness, but considering this is bone daddy Papa E, definately the former “ ‘I will not be silenced because you do not like the melody of one single word. In your grip, a thousand worlds turn! By your will, a million vessels sail the void. You are immortal, undying, seeing all and knowing all that transpires across creation. Father, you are a god in all but name. All that remains is to confess to it.’ “ 2. HE MAKES A FUCKING GOOD POINTS!! I saw someone else bring this up, but the Emperor literally appears different to everyone, from a pillar of light to a man at different ages at the same time!! Lorgar’s just telling him flat out “Bitch you’re a god to everyone? As your sons we slightly know you but not even really and to a simple human , OR HELL, ASTARTES HAVE TROUBLE REGISTERING HIM!! They have trouble registering their primarchs when first initiated [At least, from what I remember… Argal Tal..? Saying?] SO LIKE- EMPEROR! YOU’RE PROLONGING THE INEVITABLE! HELL! It’s already been going on with the secret cults!
i finished part one of the first heretic and got to the part where lorgar realizes AT has two souls. dude this book is so SO good and answering so many of my thoughts and it’s SO much fun reading it also the center part of Aurelian where he met with Ingethel certainly occurred before much of what is now happening in FH…
Reading more First Heretic, and the compliance right before heresy time is portrayed SO weirdly: Argel Tal: I hate it when we have to fight other humans and no one else understands. Except Acquillon. Because what if we could have PERSUADED them to JOIN? Are all my brothers brainwashed by their geneseed? What if I’m also brainwashed by my geneseed? Narration: Anyway this particular planet is full of humans that have ALIEN GENES, so we gotta kill them all regardless. Narration: We’re still gonna blame it on their ruler though. She’s fat. SO fat. And whiny. So we gotta kill them all.
