Thursday, December 25, 2025 Christmas Breakfast My kids do not wake up first thing on Christmas morning. Clive and I usually have some quiet time for a bit. I made a delicious cup of coffee and had some biscotti that I picked up in South Haven. Made fresh and local :) We didn’t plan on eating until noon when the rest of the family could be here. None of us eat that early anyway and it gives me plenty of time to relax and prep the food. Beignets, Cheesy Eggs, Hashbrowns, Home Fries, Sausage, Bacon, Quiche (that was leftover), Waffles, Strawberry Sauce, Whipped Cream, Sparkling Juice, and Orange Juice. Pretty fine spread! Everyone that didn’t live in the house showed up a little late, so the kids, Clive and I went ahead and ate without them. Nate, Katelynn and Lennix showed up as we were eating. And then Dana, Dan, Garry and Cindy showed up just a little after. The food was still out and everyone enjoyed. We went through a decent amount of the food and I didn’t have too many leftovers! Which was nice. Christmas Breakfast has been a fun tradition that we don’t plan on stopping any time soon. The kids give me their requests for the food and we run with it. It was nice having a bigger group this year!

Thursday, December 25, 2025 Christmas, the rest of the story. After everyone was full from breakfast, the kids enjoyed our Santa Bag tradition. My mom crocheted a large Santa bag one year and we have been filling it ever since. Clive and I wrapped 42 candy items and put them in the bag. The kids take turns picking one out and opening it up. Then they end up trading and making deals to get the candy they want. It is fun to watch. I didn’t realize until the end when it was uneven that I somehow thought there were 6 kids??? Which would have been divisible into 42 but of course there are only 5 kids. Yes, I don’t know how many kids I have! lol Two extra treats is not the end of the world. No clue who ended up with extra. We decided to do a free-for-all on presents. I asked and that was the consensus. Instead of trying to do one by one and watching people open each gift. With the added people and gifts this year, it would have taken a while. We went with chaos instead, and it worked just fine. I didn’t get to catch all the reactions to gifts, but Clive seemed to like the coffee mug I got him. We have been doing a watch (watch for me, rewatch for him) of Modern Family. I got him the Mitch (I ❤️ ME) mug. I got the larger size though since he tends to always grab the bigger mugs. I don’t ever expect gifts for Christmas. I mean, they are nice but not required. I just enjoy the holiday no matter. I tend to not even post about it. But I did get some great gifts! I don’t know what to get myself half the time, so I’m surprised when people do well getting stuff for me. Nox got me some retractable ratchet straps. I didn’t even know they made those! I’m very excited to use those. He knows how much I covet a good ratchet strap. Katelynn and Nate got me a few things including that stoneware/basket to keep warm rolls. I’ll use that soon! They didn’t even know that I just posted about the rolls I like to make. Unless they do read this….hmm, doubtful ;) She also added the crochet part on those towels. I love the personal touch. Clive got me the Shokz headphones. I’d been thinking about getting some for a while. Unfortunately this style is too big for my ears. He is returning them and a different style will be here soon! I’m excited to try them out. Tracy made that Wonder Woman bag. She does such great work and this is my favorite bag from her so far. The double zipper and many pockets! It is a good one. Melissa and Steve gave me a monetary gift which I used to get some new camping gear. I have had a camping gear post in my drafts for a while. I may just need to update that and finally post it :) Dana and Dan gave me Amazon money to buy books. Also a 3 month chocolate subscription. I should be set for a bit :) Tracy hung out for a bit. She had some busy travel right before Christmas and I wasn’t sure if she was up for heading my way. I’m glad she did! Overall it was a great day. Time with family and plenty of relaxing. I wouldn’t trade this family for anything and I feel honored they chose to spend the day here together 🧡

Now speaking of blankets I also revived this! trust me you can never have too many blankets a friend of mine gave me this really nice and extremely soft and cozy Frozen blanket. Not only that but someone else gave me this really cute Frozen snowflake pillow to go with it. I thought these were a perfect pair and great gifts that compliment each other.
In what has become an annual tradition, we welcomed our closest partners for a Christmas dinner. In addition to delicious food and drink, we spent time in in God’s Word and singing, in the style of lessons and carols. Different kids read different parts of the Christmas story, followed by a song sun as a group. We are so very thankful for the amazing partners that God has called us to work with. Indeed, nothing about our work would be possible without these dear friends and colleagues. It is a joy to unite together in praise to our Savior, the baby Jesus.
summary: Max invites the grid over for Secret Santa… and finds out just how incompetent half of them are when it comes to wrapping a/n: I rushed this, especially the end to release it in a timeframe close enough to Christmas… I did base their gifts off the F1 Secret Santa ‘25 w/c: 1532 The room looked like Santa’s workshop blew up. Tinsel was draped from every clear space possible, which was very few and far between. Wrapping paper lay discarded along the floor, ribbon and bows tossed to the edges of the room, and somehow someone had managed to litter every door frame with a sprig of mistletoe. Secret Santa hadn’t even started, but the room was accurately reflective of twenty grown men hastily adding the final touches to their presents. They were sprawled out over the entirety of Max’s apartment, some trying to wrap their presents in the kitchen while others struggled in the bathroom. Somehow, each driver got so weirdly possessive that no one could see them wrap their gift. While a handful of them were organised enough to wrap their present beforehand, the large percentage of them had almost forgotten to bring themselves to the small Christmas party. Max walked through his apartment, his eyebrow raised at the increasingly odd places he was finding his grid mates. Lando was perched in the bathtub, tongue stuck out, back to the door to try and preserve the secret of his gift, and battling with the wrapping paper. Ollie and Kimi had teamed up at one point to try and wrap their presents, the kitchen floor looking like a battlefield where the sticky tape had won. Ollie had a scrunched up ball of tape stuck to his sock, Kimi had a streak of what Max could only guess as glitter glue along his cheek, and the present currently being wrapped looked more like kindergarteners papier mache project then a present. Charles had been screaming at the sticky tape for the last five minutes in the laundry. “Why does it keep sticking to itself? You… little… piece.. of merde!” Max had just watched with a half hidden look of amusement, quickly walking off before Charles got so desperate he decided that Max looked competent. The other rookies had already given up, shoved their crudely wrapped presents under the large tree Max was harassed into buying, and sat by the crackling fireplace gossiping. Oscar, Carlos, and George had already come prepared. Their presents had sat neatly wrapped under the tree since they’d arrived. Max was secretly impressed at the folding quality. Oscar had just brushed it off with a few YouTube tutorials and help from his girlfriend, Carlos as coffee-induced perfection, and George had just shrugged. It was George, what else could they say. He probably wrote every guide on how to wrap presents. Max looked at his, almost buried under the tree. It looked like the Grinch had wrapped it, boring paper stuck at random angles. As long as it hid what was inside, he didn’t really care. He looked at the clock above the messily decorated mantel. 12:30pm. He’d give them five more minutes before barging around the apartment rounding them all up like lost sheep. Max snorted slightly. How fitting. He walked back into the kitchen to find Ollie and Kimi both sprawled out on the floor, two roughly wrapped presents laying between them, with balls of discarded sticky tape, crinkled offcuts of wrapping paper, scissors, and glue littered around the kitchen. “Done?” He raised an eyebrow as they lazily turned their head to look at him. “Wrapping presents is like a sport. I’m sure I’ve sweated more doing this than during the race in Suzuka.” Kimi complained, staring hatefully at the presents. “I’m now forever grateful to my mum for always doing it when I was a kid.” Ollie sighed, staring up at the ceiling. “My person has to take a moment to appreciate the effort that went into wrapping it. I feel like I got glue and tape everywhere but the paper.” He moaned, peeling off a string of dried glue from his finger. Max just rolled his eyes affectionately before pointing at the tree. “I’d go put yours underneath now while everyone else is distracted.” The two rookies just sighed, stood up and moved their presents to sit beneath the tree with the rest of the growing pile. Max walked back, mentally calculating how many sat there and how many were left. Just Charles, Lando, Pierre, Esteban, and Fernando left. He sighed, walking towards the other rooms he’d found them in. “We’re starting in five minutes! Get your presents to the tree!” He yelled. He heard Lando swear loudly from the bathroom, and a small shriek from Charles. Pierre walked out of a bedroom, a somewhat decently wrapped present sitting in his hands. Yet it was obvious that the wrapping didn’t treat him kindly; streaks of sharpie dotted his hands and chin, and small pieces of tissue paper were stuck to his hair. Esteban and Fernando followed, their presents wrapped neatly, and themselves void of any mishaps. Max followed them to the living room, watching them deposit their presents under the tree. The room was filled with seventeen of the nineteen other drivers from the grid. He threw a look over his shoulder, waiting impatiently for Charles and Lando to hurry up. “Three minutes!” He yelled. Lando walked out of the bathroom, dishevelled and frowning deeply. His present looked like it had exploded and he’d tried to resuscitate the paper, and now Max understood the shrieks and unrepeatable words he’d let out. He dumped it under the tree and collapsed on a spare cushion on the couch. “Whoever I just gifted, know that a lot of effort and pressure went into that present.” He groaned dramatically. A few of the drivers just snorted, Alex leaning over to pat him jokingly on the knee. Charles walked in, not fairing much better than Lando. He’d somehow got streaks of glitter pen beside his eyes, small strips of paper stuck to his shirt, and tape wrapped around his legs. If anything, Max thought he looked more like a wrapped present than the one that occupied his hands. “I’m done, I’m done! Merde, that was horrific.” He shoved it under the tree, flopping onto the floor. Max clapped his hands, moving over to the Santa hat he’d shoved the names of the drivers in beforehand. He thrust his hand in, shuffling a few of the pieces of paper before drawing one out. “Okay, Alex you’re first.” Alex grinned, moving towards the tree to search for the gift with his name on it. Upon finding it buried at the back, he grabbed it and began tearing into it. If Max thought his apartment looked like Santa’s workshop had exploded before the Secret Santa, it now looked like the North Pole had given up. The wrapping paper was now a shredded mess, tissue paper decorated every surface like little flakes of snow, ribbons, bows, and tape dangled from random spots, and gifts were now being critiqued like food on MasterChef. Kimi sat cross-legged on the floor, giving Oscar detailed explanations on how to build his Lego Senna McLaren. They were both in their element, ignoring everyone else around them. Fernando had already flipped his walking stick, using it as a golf club to hit small, screwed up balls of wrapping paper, and threatening George whenever he walked nearby. Lando was already looking at frames for his new Alex-edition posters, and flipping through his new travel book, getting Alex’s opinions on where to go next. Daniel had shown up somewhere along the road, and began to hand out gingerbread cookies. He’d persistently told them that they were replicas of racetracks, but Max had yet to find one that even looked vaguely like their supposed track. Even Las Vegas was pushing it, and that was mostly just a square with a few odd sticking out pieces. Yet, he’d give it to Daniel, they were still edible - a much higher praise than what he’d give any of the other drivers’ cooking abilities. Someone had put on a movie, something that had drawn intense arguments about what was superior, yet somehow they’d agreed on Elf. The night was winding down, and Max had wrangled Oscar and Kimi into helping him make enough hot chocolate for the grid. The fire crackled below the TV, and Monaco had long become dark, the stars twinkling gently through the windows. Snow had begun to softly fall, coating the balcony outside and the window ledges. The chaos that had surrounded them earlier had vanished, leaving only the peaceful closure of twenty exhausted, stuffed on Christmas dinner drivers. For the first time in a long time, their worlds slowed. There was no constant pressure, no thought of lap times or race strategies, no five am starts to hit the gym. It was just warmth and the presence of the nineteen others around each individual that shared the same life. It was only the odd, chaotic family that chased the same illustrious goal daily. And despite all the hassle to get here, Max was glad they’d pressured him into hosting. Glad they pressured him into that dumb tree and Secret Santa. Because, despite it all, he didn’t want to spend Christmas any other way. Well… maybe with less tape, glue and wrapping paper decorating every room of his house as the aftermath of nineteen incapable gift wrappers.
Heheheh happy holidays and new year gucci gangggg >:DDD 💖👯✨✨ I hope i’m not too late on the festivities but i will be more active next year hopefully aaa 🥹 As always Ezidriel belongs to Cosinix and Bartok to Maximilian Volt! :33 💖
