I finished reading “Wormwood Abbey” by Christina Baehr. It’s about a Victorian clergyman’s daughter, Edith Worms has seen everything - until a mythical salamander tumbles out of the fireplace into her lap. Was this really a salamander or something larger? The abbey had some interesting secrets that Edith would eventually find out about. This is a good fantasy novel which I found to be delightful. It’s the first in a series. I do recommend reading this book if you’re into something fun, mysterious, and light.
sometimes a family is a man trapped in his boring corporate life(but he wants change for this world), the master of an orphanage(a father), an island sprite(who shows her house, her private space to the kids), literally the spawn of the devil(a six year old boy who loves music), a wyvern(who is intelligent and sweet and loves buttons), a monster(a future bellhop), a young sprite which are usually dangerous as they lack control(but she does have control and can make beautiful things), a female gnome(who really loves gardening and is slightly murderous but in an endeating way), a dog/boy who can turn people with a bite(and is an aspiring writer), and a grumpy cat(grumpy, but sweet)
Love it when you find a book that fits something you have done or made perfectly! The first few chapters had me thinking how excited I am to hear players stories from their adventures using our new RPG, Ster. (Link in our bio) Thrilling, funny, cosy and haunting - Riley August’s novel has it all! Waiting for Ru by Barbara Elsborg This is the fourth book in the Unfinished Business series but can be read on its own. The other books provide context to what happened to Ru and his family, but you don’t need them to understand this book. A short summary: Ru had been kidnapped as a child and hidden away on a farm. He didn’t go to school, and now, as a young man, he has no credentials and no money. The only thing he knows how to do is care about horses. And through horses he meets Jasim, a famous polo player. Things happen, and Jasim hires Ru to take care of his horses. Over time they get close, but Jasim has secrets, and his family is rich, powerful, and could be dangerous. Ru is a sunshine character who likes to see the best in people, but he is not totally naïve. He goes through life with a sense of wonder, and he cares deeply about horses. Jasim is a prince, an Arabian prince who lives in exile because he’s gay. His life is meaningless, careful hookups and his career until Ru stumbles into his life. This book deals with some heavy themes, like child abuse, kidnapping, being isolated, bullying, and homophobia. But it has plenty of cute and fun scenes too. The sex scenes are mostly cute and of the vanilla kind, but they fit the story and characters well. I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first one in the series: The Making of Jonty Bloom 4 Stars
So I finally got around to reading A Deadly Education, which I really liked. Very fun, would read again, definitely would suggest if you haven’t. The only slight disappointment is that as far as being a magical school goes, it doesn’t start at the beginning of El’s magical education, it starts three weeks before the end of junior year. Seeing her get used to *waves hands* all of that would have been really cool.

Please Send Me Book Recommendations I have a long list of books I want to read, but I am always looking for more to add. Do you have any recommendations? (‘Project Hail Mary’ is on the list, worry not). I really don’t like gratuitous sexually explicit scenes. I don’t tend to favor medieval fantasy, but I’m open to it if you think it’s really good. Thank you!!
