Bike Accident I was in a bike accident two weeks ago. I was cruising through the Boni tunnel when I lost control and bumped straight into the wall and gutter. Luckily, I did not sustain any major injuries. My right arm and leg both have wounds but they’re not really deep. I was able to remove myself from the scene and go to a store to ask for water to wash my wounds. Perhaps the most ridiculous part of this is - it’s really my fault. And I’m only comfortable saying it here. Yes, I went really fast. Yes, I lost control. But the reason why that happened is that I decided it was a great time to pull out my phone and take a video of my descent into darkness. I took my phone out and just for a split second, I looked down to unlock my phone. When I looked up BOOM. I’m smashing into the wall. So you could say that Reels is partly to blame for this accident. I was confident that I could do it because I’ve done it so many times with no incident - or accident. I guess this time, it was different because that part of the road was kind of bumpy. That meant I had to put two hands on the handle bars to get full control of my bike. But whatever, I’m almost fully healed now. My wounds are dry and 99% okay. It only took 15 long days before I got back on the bike for a comeback ride. It felt weird though. I wrote this on my instagram: it’s like my body remembers the trauma of the impact. When I was in my riding position, parts of my body started aching so badly. My right arm was suddenly burning. My knees were complaining. And worst part is that the right side of my head has this very uncomfortable….pressure. I was scared for a moment like what if I had a brain injury? I felt compelled to test my cognitive functions. I kept singing songs to see if I still remember the lyrics. I was silently quizzing myself on a few big words I learned in the past few months. So far, I remember my lyrics and I remember some of those big words. (I better write them down somewhere..) So here I am, waiting to have the courage to get back my old strength again. It’s hard to rebuild your endurance after a long time of not riding a bike. It was surprising though that I survived going up a few hills and ramps with no stops. It felt like hell though.
