Not pregnancy but still child related LMAO there is a universe out there where one day a person Rodrigo slept with once finds him and drops a baby girl in his lap and promptly fucks off and now he has a daughter to raise And she looks just like him no DNA test needed Drigo is furious and terrified and mostly just feeling “what the fuck” because who leaves a baby with HIM of all people Anyway that baby is spoiled beyond measure and has two dads many aunts and uncles and one fiercely protective big brother (Keean)
Working on Alec x Muriel x Asra fic for mm is giving me stronger worms for my rewrite And now I’m thinking Asra doesn’t join them on the journey south like I originally wanted because I think 1) it’s important for Alec and Muriel to have that time without Asra to grow and 2) if Asra is there when Alec finds out she died there is a non-zero chance she might actually kill him* *not on purpose, but she Will have a magical explosion to level a town after finding it out In order to cross the strait of sirens to make it back to Vesuvia, she’ll have to use her vocal magic for the first time and essentially hypnotize the dueling sirens long enough for them to cross, but as she does it she absorbs the fury of the sirens and that compounds with her own frustrations so when they reach land she’s going to Lose it
No one asked but I do want to share my thoughts on Lucio as someone who considers myself a fan…ish Based on a conversation I had with a friend the way people view Lucio tends to change depending on when you started playing The Arcana. If you started before the secondary routes were ever in existence, you had time to sit with the horrors™️ Lucio is responsible for and were less likely (though not completely) to enjoy his route later on I started playing in April 2020, right in the middle of the secondary routes, and Lucio was the second route I played because I didn’t know the OG 3 were first I was just going on vibes LMAO His route completely separate from the context of the other routes is enjoyable. I liked his design and the narcissistic but kind of a himbo personality he seemed to have especially regarding the apprentice. However, the second you reenter the context of the world and the other routes, it doesn’t hold up at all, because, well, he sucks. I could talk about the writing sucking ass forever but that’s not what this post is about LMAO Lucio’s character by nature of the game is complex, but net “evil.” He has always done things for his own gain regardless of the cost to others, is violent and obsessive, and just generally mean. I’ve seen conversations about him being racist but personally I think that is more of a dev thing because in my eyes he’s an equal opportunity hater lmao (though he is a product of colonialism and I’d love to discuss that) Now all of that being said, I still like his route! I like it for what potential it has for real consequences, and if you feed into him, and the apprentice ends up as the Devil?? That’s sick shit and I love it Unfortunately the game itself and the devs did not consider the fact that there should be consequences and just babygirl-ified their war criminal 😔 Anyway Lucio to me is my own little bug in a jar that I shake around sometimes and use him to further my ocs backstories (mostly Meredith)
Arcana Overhaul Thoughts?? Feeling a little like Charlie Day conspiracy meme rn but I had a thought I must share I was thinking about the different storylines of the arcana and how they make very little sense when combined (specifically looking at you Lucio and Muriel routes) due to plot nonsense and baby-fying some characters etc etc But there’s enough of a through line that you could connect it all together while ironing out the stupid bits and making an actual full story So. My thought is that if I were to combine it all together into one major plot and fic it would be split up into three main groups each investigating a different aspect of the story before coming together at the end Group 1: Muriel, Asra, Alec This group follows Muriel’s route mostly with changes to character death(s) and timeline to investigate the root of Lucio’s power and backstory with Morga Also ties in Asra’s route and relationship with the apprentice (Alec) as her memories start coming back and they are forced to spend time together in an unfamiliar place, but doing familiar things like traveling and fighting The main focus is, of course, finding Lucio on his quest for hearts and power, but Alec’s insecurity and pain for not having her memories or knowing how to use her magic to its full potential is very heavily featured along with Muriel’s own fears and doubts about himself Poly ending between the three of them, this is the group with the heaviest romance subplot Features my added lore of the Strait of Sirens that they have to navigate, and Saoirse, the Pirate Queen’s quartermaster, who acts as a personification of The Hermit to protect the group, along with Alec’s familiar Ravah, and Leon’s familiar Fiasharya They spend much more time in the magical realms to help Alec with her magic and save Asra’s parents, guided mostly by Saoirse through the different realms instead of forced there Group 2: Nadia, Miriam, Leon, Valerius, Lucio(kind of) This group follows Nadia’s route… kind of. With Muriel’s testimony, Julian is understood as innocent, so after locating him, the primary focus of this group is to discover what happened during the ritual, why Nadia/Julian/Asra/and Alec have no memories of that time, and dealing with Lucio’s ghost (to some extent) Leon, who arrived to the palace during the events of the prologue with the intention of watching over Alec, is roped into helping due to his connection with the magical realms, and while he is initially adverse to helping, eventually agrees when he thinks they may be able to help Alec regain her memories Some parts of Lucio’s route appear here, where it is revealed that Miriam has known Lucio’s ghost was in the palace the whole time (at least up to the beginning of the game timeline) though she hasn’t been able to interact with him due to her lack of magical abilities As the timeline progresses, and Group 1 goes further in their route, Lucio’s ghost in the palace becomes more volatile and agitated The romance subplot here is between Nadia and Miriam, as the Countess finds her sommelier’s presence surprisingly comforting, and as her memories start to return, so does the true nature of their relationship before the ritual reveal itself Valerius’s involvement happens later in this group, but before the masquerade, where Miriam and Leon are able to convince him to turn from the other courtiers Group 3: Julian, Portia, Viviane, Bluebird This group follows Portia’s route mainly, but as Julian has been cleared of any suspicion regarding Lucio’s death from Muriel’s testimony, the four of them investigate the courtiers and deeper history of the city of Vesuvia This is the most Scooby-Doo-esque group, all of them practically tripping into their discoveries and being dramatic about them the entire time (usually Julian and Blue), but also using their detective skills to uncover the secrets of Vesuvia (mostly Portia and Viviane) The only group with no romance subplot, purely for the vibes and hijinks Mazelinka features here, as well as the now-retired Pirate Queen, Aria Zaman and her wife Eveline, as former rival pirates turned bingo buddies Viviane specifically discovers the truth about her own ancestry, and the bloody history her great-grandfather contributed to in the building of Vesuvia Everyone meets again for the masquerade, where Lucio appears as The Devil and chaos ensues, a combination of what happens in Muriel’s route and Portia’s route unfolds but most people escape to the forest as in Muriel’s route There everyone can share the knowledge they’ve discovered, and form a plan to defeat Lucio/The Devil once and for all, featuring also the entire Satrinava family/Prakra’s army, Camia, Jamil, and potentially the current Pirate Queen and enemy of Lucio, Meredith Anyway.
Question for people more used to AO3 fic posting than I am: if I were to actually start writing/posting my full Arcana rewrite, would it make more sense to have all parts in one fic or to make three separate fics all in one series and update each one accordingly? Because we’d follow three different paths/casts of characters and it would probably go in chronological order as much as possible So it would either all be together jumping from one path to the other or you would be able to stick with one path all the way through and switch over if you wanted to
