Sometimes I think about all the women in the footnotes of history who refused to participate in something simply because they didn’t trust the men. Because how many stories are there of heretics changing the society for the better, for a hero arriving at city walls to liberate you, of a King who received divine revelation and stopped his erring ways and yet your life stays shit, your men beat/rape you, your children have no security and you are an extension of the man they bound you to. What’s it to you who the new prodigy is and what spell the new hero spins for you know men lie, they love ideals and talk but they lie without even knowing it and your house stays burning, your man still slaps you and you still eat at the floor. Your daughter will be married a child and if you die popping another one out they’ll burn/bury you and he’ll look for another one. How many women rejected socialism, communism, some revolutionary movement, civil rights, black rights, the movement of independence, decolonization, Zoroastrianism, Bhudism, Judaism, Christianity, ISLAM How many women rejected a prophet because he was a man and men lie. How many women will be in hell for not trusting a man that he held their salvation. How many souls did not believe because everything they had ever been taught by a decent elder or they had witnessed on earth told them to nod politely when a heretic was being received well by your men but never ever hold hope that what he says applies to you or will change your life for the better. How many women refused the Prophet (SAW) because he was a man and they had only tasted cruelty from them. How many Bedouin women died rejecting Islam as just the new fad in the sands of spirits and poetry because that’s all they had seen. How many Bedouin women were forced to accept Islam because one day a man from a city came to their basti and spoke of a religion markedly similar to one she had already heard about, one that was spreading fast and had the strongest 2 cities on the peninsula at it’s behest which meant it controlled the armies and the trade routes, and your men talked to the outsider, listened and believed, maybe they even told you to pack up because they want to visit and see what the fuss is about, and you travel with a baby and tent on your back only to pitch it outside the city and never see the Man they all chant about, maybe never even meet someone of the new faith, your men come back from their audience enthralled, tell you to recite 2 verses and you do because what he says goes and it doesn’t matter if their is one God or 10,000 because at the end of the day you have to listen to the one in your bed. And now you are part of this faith you have never seen, know nothing about and who’s prophet you are not allowed to witness. Another fad for the men that envelopes you because who are you without him, no one, nothing. And so you come back , pitch your tent again, and nothing changes, he’s still violent and your children are still at his mercy, you still do all your labour and he still scowls at his infant daughter but his new faith doesn’t let him bury her, which fills you with dread because atleast in death your daughter can find peace, now she has to suffer your fate. Nothing changes so neither do you, he tells you to prostrate 5 times a day so you do, but you die never believing, because it’s just something a man told you to do, and you never had a choice. And the women who may have met the Prophet or the Sahaba, who listened to the message and the promises of salvation and equality, and did not trust them because you can’t trust men, and Atleast the paganism of your mother is comfortable and familiar if still cruel, and maybe false hope is more cruel, so you rebuke the message and die disbelieving because again a passionate speech from a man is not to be believed, that’s not how the world you lived in works. I wonder what God will do to these women, I wonder what they will think when they see him and be like “oh so the dude wasn’t lying huh” I believe my God will be merciful to them, he won’t smite a woman for protecting herself from yet another heretic/hero with hopes of salvation that still ends with her getting married off and doing the dishes forever.

Um Yasser, a Bedouin woman of the Hamada tribe in South Sinai, was born in a rock house, but spent much of her childhood living in a cave dwelling in the desert, where she and her mother tended their herd of goats. She now leads tours of women on Sinai trails, where they can view rock art (shown above), nawamis (ancient burial ground structures), and of course the beautiful natural landscape of the tribal territories around the Sinai Peninsula.
The Arab Who Taught Us Zionism Amos Yarkoni is one of Israel’s most celebrated national heroes and the country’s most decorated tracker . He’s a fascinating man with a fascinating life, so let’s dive right it. Amos Yarkoni was born in 1921 as Abd el-Majid Hidr of the Mazrib, a powerful Bedouin tribe that has dispatched many attacks against the Jews and the English in the ‘30s. In 1936, he joined a raid on the Trans-Arabian Pipeline, but got into a fight with his cousins over their vicious plans for the workers and fled to a Jewish town. There he befriended the future legendary Israeli general Moshe Dayan. He would later remark to his friend, “If you can be a lieutenant general without an eye, I can be a lieutenant colonel without a hand.” But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Amos Yarkoni as a captain in the IDF In 1947, Abd el-Majid was working in a refinery in Haifa when it was attacked by a Muslim lynch mob. Rather than join the attackers, Abd el-Majid helped his Jewish co-workers hide from the murderous mob. Soon after, he joined the newly formed IDF and changed his name to Amos Yarkoni. During his service, he astounded his fellow soldiers with his tracking and scouting skills. For example, he shocked his CO by observing that the enemy knew they were being followed by pointing out the pattern of the tracks showed they stopped to look around. His tracking skills became so legendary that the Arabs still tell stories about him. The Bedouin say that if you spit on a rock in the desert, Abd el-Majid would sense it after a hundred years, track you down and say, “O villain, why have you spat in my desert?” Despite suffering many injuries and even losing a hand, Yarkoni was re-appointed as the commander of the Shaked Battalion in 1961. In 1964, he suffered a crippling foot injury. After a short stint as the military governor of Sinai, he left military service a celebrated hero. A celebrated hero Amos Yarkoni died in 1991. His coffin was carried by six generals and the funeral was attended by the president as well as Israel’s most right-wing politician, Rehavam Ze'evi. Colonel Judah Melamed eulogized, “we came to the unit a bunch of young cocks who were sure they invented the love of the land. However, you, an Arab, taught us what it meant to love and protect the country.” And here’s a street named after him, right next to his lifelong friend Moshe Dayan.
Pages In my search for justice and protection, I found myself in the pages of a book. I think. I think I am currently in “Rhett Butler’s People” by Donald McCaig. I went back to the old town of my mother and rapist. Who is playing Rhett? William’s? HAHAHAHAHAH Mitchell’s copycats, I want Ripley’s. I want a cat. I want! I want! I want!
Source: Instagram middleeasteye January 12, 2026, EST. Upload Comment: In the occupied West Bank village of Ras Ain Al-Auja, dozens of Bedouin families are forced to pack up their homes and leave due to incessant harassment and attacks by illegal settlers protected by the Israeli army. “You can’t defend yourself, because if you do, you become a criminal. If you defend your home, the (Israeli) police or army will come and arrest you” explains Naif Zayed, a resident. The phenomenon is not unique to Ras Ain Al-Auja and is becoming a common occurrence across the occupied West Bank, where Israeli settler violence against Palestinians has surged since October 2023. “What is happening today is the complete collapse of the community as a result of the settlers’ continuous and repeated attacks, day and night, for the past two years . “The settlers completely destroyed the Bedouin way of life,” says Farhan Jahalin. —————————————————————————— [id video subtitles [side note: West Bank, occupied Palestine 11 January 2026] [side note pops up as man speaks: Naaman Hassam Ehrizat Bedouin resident Ras Ain Al-Awja Naaman: We’ve been living here since 1991, about 30 years. Due to harassment from settlers, we are now demolishing the sheep pens. We have moved the sheep to Hebron, and we are gathering our belongings to join the sheep. Text: In Ras Ain Al-Awja, dozens of Bedouin families are packing their belongings and preparing to leave their lands and homes after incessant harassment and attacks from illegal Israeli settlers. [Side note pops up as man speaks: Farhan Jahalin Bedouin resident of Ras Al-Awja] Farhan: What’s happening today is the complete collapse of the community as a result of the settlers’ continuous and repeated attacks, day and night, for the past two years. You could say that half the community has collapsed. About 50 families have begun dismantling their homes and want to leave. [cut] Farhan: Wherever we go, there is no area for us to live in. Area A is full of buildings, and if we return to live in Area C, the same thing will repeat itself. The settlers will return to displace us again and again. This has already happened to many families in the community who were displaced from the village of Jiftlik to the village of Al-Auja, only to be displaced again by the settlers. They follow them with drones, and wherever they go, the settlers come and tell them, “You can’t live here.” They completely destroyed the Bedouin way of life, obliterated culture and identity, and used every method o change the Bedouin way of life in general, with the complete destruction of life here. Text: The Bedouin community of Ras Ain al_auja is but one among dozens whose members have been forced out of their homes by settler violence, with UN figures indicating that some 3,200 Palestinians have had to relocate since October 2023. [side note pops up as man speaks: Naif Zayed Bedouin resident of Ras Ain Al-Awja] Naif: You can’t defend yourself, because if you do, you become a criminal. If you defend your home, the police or army will come and arrest you. We can’t do anything. Yo can’t even touch a settler; if you do, they’ll say you attacked them, and they’ll call the police and army, who will handcuff and take you away. Honestly, life is extremely difficult. There is no specific place for people to go, people are acting on their own, to each their own. People don’t know where to go. Text: The occupied West Bank has seen a surge in settler violence against Palestinians since Israel launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. Israeli army data shows a 25 percent increase from the previous year, with 845 incidents recorded, killing four Palestinians and wounding another 200. /id]
Israel’s minorities are joining the IDF in growing numbers | The Jerusalem Post One could certainly make the argument that Israel’s Arabs are de facto if not de jure second class citizens, but more and more of them seem to be identifying with Israel (even if the guy in charge of recruiting Arabs does splash some water on the idea of non-Bedouin Muslims signing up in droves). At some points it’s rather seemed like the Golan Druze are not only switching their loyalties from Syria to Israel, but also that they would like for their relatives across the border in Syria proper to also fall under the Israeli umbrella of protection!
